Bit of a thread bump, but it anyone is curious about trying a pedal spacer like the Verus one, but doesn't want to pay the £lol they are asking for it, I stumbled across a Reddit post last month where an Australian owner has made his own 3D printed copy for RHD vehicles.
I don't have a 3D printer, but I commented and another user replied saying he was in the UK, and he would be able to print it for me. Got chatting to him and he was kind enough to print and send it to me for a tenner toward material costs and postage. It arrived this morning.
It's a bit thicker than I expected. The mounting holes are horizontally elongated to allow a little adjustment, but with it mounted as far to the right as possible, it moves the entire pedal about as close to the brake as the extension of the Cusco pedal. But more noticeably, the pedal sits about 25mm closer.
Hard to take proper measurements upside down in the footwell, but from the point where I'm holding the rule, the gap between the pedals is about 40mm. The rule is pressed against the back of the brake pedal, and it sitting pretty much flush across the front of the accelerator, so the height difference is now pretty much just the thickness of the brake pedal.
Obviously I removed the Cusco pedal for now just for testing. At the moment it feels...weird. Heel and toe is even easier with this than the Cusco, as you can do it even under light brake pressure. And even though I've only been around the block, it might actually be a little easier to pull away, as you're naturally giving the pedal a bit more pressure just from it being closer, something I've always had trouble with in this car with it's weird, slightly dull, initial throttle tip-in.
However, at the moment, the jury is still very much out. I've read that you should give this mod a couple of weeks, but although it makes blipping the throttle easier, I'm worried that it will be hard to avoid sometimes. I have size 12 feet and with the ball of my foot on the brake, it only takes a slight twist for me to be able to feel the throttle now. I'm a little concerned that I would end up hitting it inadvertently.
I should add, this probably isn't a good mod for the track. The stock pedal setup is best for track driving as you'll be hard on the brakes. I'm a road driver and am just playing with this, as I find it hard to heel and toe under more sedate braking, as the accelerator is still a little far away to get a good blip sometimes. But that's the beauty of finding someone who was made a 3D print; it's cheaper to just try out, rather than having to spend a lot of money ordering an overpriced Verus solution.
If anyone is interested, and has a 3D printer, might be worth messaging the author of the Reddit thread above to send you the file. I did message him and ask for a copy, but I don't know if I can attach it here. You'll also need a couple of 35mm M6 bolts. I'm going to keep it fitted for a while to see how it goes, but if I decide to go back to just the Cusco pedal, I'd be happy to send mine to someone else to try.
