GR86 Cusco - Pedal extension for heel toe

Note: I am used to small pedal box with size 8 UK shoes.

The Verus one raises it more or less in line with the brakes but also moves it quite close to the brake pedal, much closer than the Cusco one really.

While it works perfectly for myself, it might take some time to get used to, or just sucks with wide shoes.

Noted - I have size 12 feet, so perhaps the Cusco is the best comprise for me.
As a test, I placed a couple of 2mm washers on the bolts the pedal attached to which raise it about 4mm. I'm not sure if it's all that noticeable though, plus not an ideal permanent solution.

Bit of a thread bump, but it anyone is curious about trying a pedal spacer like the Verus one, but doesn't want to pay the £lol they are asking for it, I stumbled across a Reddit post last month where an Australian owner has made his own 3D printed copy for RHD vehicles.

I don't have a 3D printer, but I commented and another user replied saying he was in the UK, and he would be able to print it for me. Got chatting to him and he was kind enough to print and send it to me for a tenner toward material costs and postage. It arrived this morning.

It's a bit thicker than I expected. The mounting holes are horizontally elongated to allow a little adjustment, but with it mounted as far to the right as possible, it moves the entire pedal about as close to the brake as the extension of the Cusco pedal. But more noticeably, the pedal sits about 25mm closer.

Hard to take proper measurements upside down in the footwell, but from the point where I'm holding the rule, the gap between the pedals is about 40mm. The rule is pressed against the back of the brake pedal, and it sitting pretty much flush across the front of the accelerator, so the height difference is now pretty much just the thickness of the brake pedal.

Obviously I removed the Cusco pedal for now just for testing. At the moment it feels...weird. Heel and toe is even easier with this than the Cusco, as you can do it even under light brake pressure. And even though I've only been around the block, it might actually be a little easier to pull away, as you're naturally giving the pedal a bit more pressure just from it being closer, something I've always had trouble with in this car with it's weird, slightly dull, initial throttle tip-in.

However, at the moment, the jury is still very much out. I've read that you should give this mod a couple of weeks, but although it makes blipping the throttle easier, I'm worried that it will be hard to avoid sometimes. I have size 12 feet and with the ball of my foot on the brake, it only takes a slight twist for me to be able to feel the throttle now. I'm a little concerned that I would end up hitting it inadvertently.

I should add, this probably isn't a good mod for the track. The stock pedal setup is best for track driving as you'll be hard on the brakes. I'm a road driver and am just playing with this, as I find it hard to heel and toe under more sedate braking, as the accelerator is still a little far away to get a good blip sometimes. But that's the beauty of finding someone who was made a 3D print; it's cheaper to just try out, rather than having to spend a lot of money ordering an overpriced Verus solution.

If anyone is interested, and has a 3D printer, might be worth messaging the author of the Reddit thread above to send you the file. I did message him and ask for a copy, but I don't know if I can attach it here. You'll also need a couple of 35mm M6 bolts. I'm going to keep it fitted for a while to see how it goes, but if I decide to go back to just the Cusco pedal, I'd be happy to send mine to someone else to try.

Given it a couple of days, but I've reverted to the Cusco pedal only. Took the car for some longer drives with the spacer fitted. Got used to it pretty quickly, and though it made heel and toe an absolute breeze to do pretty much whenever I wanted (queue unnecessary blipping everywhere), I think it just lifted the pedal a little too close to be comfortable. I'm not especially tall, but drive with my seat back as far as possible, and I started to feel a dull ache in my right shin from having my foot tensed at a higher angle than usual.

And this was while wearing very slim driving trainers with a thin sole. I often drive wearing slightly chunkier walking shoes, so I reckon that it would get very uncomfortable long term. A thinner spacer (maybe 10mm max) would probably be perfect, but given there is also the increased risk of my big feet hitting the gas unintentionally, the Cusco pedal remains the best compromise for me at the moment.

A shame, but it served it's purpose. At least I've found out the Versus spacer is no good without having to splash out on it.
