3 symptoms:

- braking steers the car to one direction a bit (might be unrelated)

- crack-crack noises on harder braking

- similar noises upon acceleration immediately afterwards

When braking gently, the car seems fine. I think I'm getting a feel as if it's steering to one direction, but no funny noises.

When braking harder (say 60-70%, not all my weight on the pedal) there are crack - crack - crack noises from the front. Whatever it is that's causing the noise, I think I can feel it as some sort of vibration on the brake pedal too. I noticed it at low speeds.

The acceleration immediately afterwards was also accompanied by

similar crack-crack-crack noises. I can't notice these when accelerating without having gone hard on the brakes before.

Any ideas as to what it is or what to check, much appreciated.

Car has Powerflex camber bolts (-2.75 camber front), caster kit (Powerflex front wishbone rear bush) & Goodridge braided lines.

Thanks!

Sounds like either something has come loose on the front suspension or possibly a snapped coil spring.

Both checked fine.

Have you checked the front discs and pads? Constant sound usually derives from something rotating.

Next check will be caliper area, I think.

The crack-crack noise on harder braking is almost impossible to replicate now. I have to try really hard to hear a similar noise, but it seems now more of a one-off and it does it very briefly.

I'll wait a bit until I have a chance to drive it for longer & harder (for the sake of a diagnosis, of course).

hey man. have you found the cause of the noise ?

Suggestion :
If the car steers to one direction when braking, seems there is some play somewhere in the steering or the front suspension, the side the car is steering too :
- Check the Powerflex Camber Bolts and the OE bottom bolts too if one hasn't become loose. Maybe some slight play between the Mcpherson strut and wheel hub. Torque to specs.
- Check and torque to specs the bolts of the front lower control arms.

Please share here the issue you have found, it could help someone in the future, thanks.

my bet is that either brake pad has lost its friction surface, it might cause the weird sound. My pads started to steer to another direction once pads were worn.
remove the pads and check how they are.

regarding your problem i have the EXACT same issue. it came once i installed the powerflex bushes and the camber bolts. My installation went like this:
1. car on air, bushes mounted and also the camber bolts, all torqued at hand, random value.
after leaving the shop, i was getting noises. 1 week later ( and i think i also made a post around here somewhere and also a reply to your problem), after consulting chat gpt and a member's advice, i put the car on the ground, unscrewed the arms, and then torqued them at factory settings with cars weight on wheels.
The result? just a small improvement. Checked all the other screws, all tight.
My guess.. its because of the powerflex bushes. Why? i think my mechanic didnt used the lube it came in the pack because he has seen they were already pre-lubed.
I also talked to Adriano Piras and he said that he has the same bushing and no cracks. Also there are a lot of people on the forum who say that they have the same problems and at the same time, alot of people with them mounted and no noises.
