GR Yaris Collins re-map

How is the mpg?
Good question, I've never been one for watching MPG (what with long-term Evo ownership πŸ˜‚) but I think it's actually better!

I might be getting 10-20 more miles per tank, but I've only put 2 in so far since the remap and done quite a few motorway miles recently so could be imagining things. It certainly doesn't seem any worse.

I've now spent over a week with this map and it's fantastic! It's like all gears have moved down by one, i.e. 4th pulls like 3rd used to. I don't need to change down on dual-carriageways to get going, just squeeze the throttle and it pulls in any gear. It defo pulls more down low but something happens around 5k RPM and it all just goes ballistic and throws you down the road all the way to red line! Feels like an extra turbo or VTEC or something!? πŸ˜‚ I dunno but it's ace (might this mean there's more tuning to be done below 5k?!)

The car was never slow but could feel a bit lacking, e.g. overtakes but maybe I was spoiled by my previous cars. It's never really made me go 'f**k me!'..... but it certainly does now! It is proper rapid. There are no downsides (except the obvious - warranty potential) as the car easily handles the extra power.

Love it.

My only negative was I actually expected more! (greedy sod I know). I previously had a 500HP Alfa and a 400HP Evo and they really stuck you to the seat when boost kicked in, that doesn't happen so much with this. Well, maybe it does when all goes mental around 5k (I haven't drove it for a few days) but you're too distracted by that point.. 😁
You're a bad bad man, don't tempt me...

Well, since asking for reasons not to:
- If the engine goes bang along the road, map still on the ECU, you might very well have no, at that point much needed, warranty (and you shouldn't either).
- My old saying is: software pushes the engine, hardware reliefs the engine. Since the stock engine is running hot already on track or even on street on hot summers days, a remap will probably not help things as more power generates more heat. My preferred MO is adding hardware first, and the top it off with a modest remap/box of sorts that makes benefit of the hardware without pushing much.

I see the cost argument coming up, and yes the immediate reward per quid invested has always been the highest with a stage one remap. But still realise that in the end, it's still pay to play, or otherwise you might have some unpleasant realisations in case Murphy decides to pay you an unannounced visit....

PS: if I had Collins down my back yard, I would probably pay them a visit too, and ask for a few tweaks to suit my above preferences....

I’m booked in Saturday morning a nice 4hr drive there but hoping for a really nice 4hr drive homeπŸ˜ƒπŸ€ž

is you car modified exhaust CAT etc or are you mapping a factory standard engine
Mine only has a few mods mate. Enhanced performance full ultimate exhaust with OPF delete and sports cat, Eventuri., Airtec oil and air cooler, Airtec quickshift, wagner turbo elbow, oh and a new horn as the factory ones crap.πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

I need a go in a collins mapped car before i make the decision to change from the v2 dtuk box.😁😁

New to the forum, so haven't been familiar with Collins before, but looking online it's a lot more local to me than Litchfield who did my Supra.

I've got my GR Yaris booked in locally for an intake and exhaust, so once that's done I think I will be in touch with Collins.

Like going to Aldi.

Or IKEA.

On subject, with a map like this if you didn't do much in way of mods what's the deal? Atm my intake and exhaust are totally standard though I may change them in future...

Maybe a few extra HP and fixing the weird torque curve?

Me too, done the exhaust and looking at intakes. Remap we will see who does what.
