GR Yaris Clutches

Both of the clutches I’ve had were fine for road use - a bit noisy maybe, but a decent size biting point you could easily feel.

Interesting to hear about teeth on 2nd, not something I’ve heard about before.

I've been made aware of a company called Uniclutch. The claim is a ceramic twin disc that drives near OEM and yet holds over 1000nm. Sounds too good to be true but worth an investigation...

I'll be going with a Uniclutch Track very soon to replace my original clutch. I need something heavier duty for the track but want to retain normal drivability.

I would love to fit some 255 width tyres and have a clutch that could handle full throttle engagement off the launch control limiter... I wonder what would break apart next?

I mean was there enough room to remove the transmission with the engine in place. Its a tight fit in there.

I know four people with this kit, 2 owners have reported massive problems with it very soon after fitting, the third one still goes fine, the fourth one just fitted it and the single mass dual flywheel is very very loud. Let´s see how long it lasts.

I would go for another option, and keep the dual flywheel if torque permits.

I was pinning hope on this as the 'perfect' clutch. Would be interested in details of failures of if they are described on the net?

Just to clarify a typo, the single mass flywheel from uniclutch is very loud (also very light).

Transfer case.

In the end I chose a Uniclutch Sport based on advice from the mechanic. This uses a twin-plate organic clutch.

Previously only the 'Track' model was available for the GRY, but it seems the 'Sport' range went through a revision in mid-2025 (I think the original Sport was removed from their website for GRY use).

Picked up the car today, and first impressions are that the Uniclutch Sport is superior to the OEM clutch in feel and response. Engagement feel is good, better than OEM - it feels more like 'normal' clutch operation to me, the standard clutch is sometime a little fussy. It feels a lot harder to accidentally stall the engine. Left foot pressure is slightly reduced over the standard clutch, to the point that I'm retraining my brain to understand that reduced pressure doens't equal a weaker clutch clamping force. If you can't tell, I'm liking it so far.

The mechanic told me that clamping force of the Sport is at least double of the standard clutch (makes sense being a twin-plate design). I have a few track days coming up , so hoping that it holds up well on track.
