I realise there's some discussion on the other forum, and some roundabout talk about clutches here, but I'd be keen for some input please.

I was always intending to upgrade the clutch when it needed doing, had the Exedy saved recommended by Tegiwa, and the time has come.
However, this kit (TK08H) apparently uses oe flywheel and slave cylinder, so near enough £2200 all in plus labour.
The stage 2 xtreme comes in just under £1400 from various reputable suppliers, presumably this would need a slave too though.

For similar money what have others done at clutch replacement time? Open to other options, but my mods are nothing too heavy

just over 13k
Can I ask how many miles are you on and are you tracking?
just over 13k no track use yet. Car wasn't new to me though, missed the option to order new by a week. Was 6 months old with 2k mileage to me from the Tamworth M specialist garage, so don;t know how hard clutch was driven in those months, I've never launched.

I'm going with exedy this time with oe flywheel and slave. Depending how long this lasts I may do the pumaspeed next time which is £1400 currently plus fitting.
There's just not enough experience/opinions on the single mass xtreme solution, and helix again whilst low, have all said it's a heavy clutch.

Ouch, mine was fine after 36,000 miles with light track use. But as you say you never know what’s happened before

Plus the mods, I'm not interested in fighting it, the example on the .uk forum of the person with sub 5k mileage took a while, was a fight, clearly justified in pursuing warranty, I'm more interested in getting something that's better longer term without making the car unusably painful in traffic

I got the stage 1 Xtreme with the single mass flywheel, https://www.fensport.co.uk/products/clutch-flywheel-kit-xtreme-organic-240mm-gr-yaris

No issues with ~400bhp after 18 months of mostly track use.

I would probably stick with the normal flywheel for a daily - my car is not terrifically pleasant for extended road use đŸ˜€ but can’t remember how much is flywheel vs rose jointed suspension, wide wheels, stiff springs, stiff gearbox mount etc

Not sure I would be in a rush to over spec the clutch, they will be noisy and/or grabby, there are much more fun ways to spend your money I think!

That's the sort of info I was after, much appreciated. Not a daily, but sort of drives I do can be further afield and in traffic occasionally.

I've gone with the exedy, oe flywheel and cylinder this time. I think pumaspeed at £1400 all in is the way to go for me next time as had to buy the fw and cylinder seperate at greater cost with exedy.

Thought this saga was over but turns out the £820 flywheel from fensport is from Japan and our of my time limit with the car at the garage with a fitting slot well before that.
Toyota themselves seem to have put flywheels up from £899 Inc vat to £1036 Inc vat since 2 weeks ago as a warning for anyone likely to have a clutch change coming, and sticking with dual mass. Order early from fensport, or, and I will be next time, order the whole kit from pumaspeed at a massive discount due to an arrangement for buying direct from Toyota the slave and flywheel. I suspect the £500 for the flywheel in the bundles below is likely to go up a bit soon. No affiliation just think after all the money spent and hassle gone through this is the best and simplest clutch solution for keeping dual mass:
Stage2
Stage 1

From everything I'm reading a high quality organic clutch like the Xtreme stage 1 with OE dual mass flywheel might be the right path for me.

I think the xtreme was rated for 550nm, my car was making 343 lb ft at the wheels, which is 465nm. Which is either very close to or slightly over the flywheel rating, depending on what you guess at for conversion

Are you running a bigger turbo? I assume the clutch disintegrated and damaged the flywheel / transmission housing?

No this was on standard turbo with syvecs, cams etc.

Gearbox was a coincidence - I'd been unhappy/concerned about it for a while, then when the clutch went I had the box stripped - I think it had done one clutch hub and a synchro but can't remember for sure.

Sorry for all the questions. My plan is to run an upgraded turbo but cap the torque to 300-310lbs at the wheels (carrying this to readline is 400-410hp). I don't want to run a ceramic/ twin plate clutch or pass the next failure along the transmission ideally.

Sounds like a decent plan! Which turbo are you looking at?
The extra torque made it an expensive few months for me. I ended up with the ogura twin plate clutch which is really surprisingly nice to drive - a bit noisy but not far from OEM in terms of feel. But yeah, sensible to cap the torque and try to avoid the expense and hassle I think.

Just a word of caution. We've seen a lot of broken 2nd gear gear teeth on transmissions that have gone to a single-mass flywheel. Here in JDM land, the manufacturers even put a warning on the box now, "for use with race transmission only."

I imagine the 3-pot has some strange harmonics going into the transmission.

This is why forums like this are so valuable. It's becoming clear that the G16E has a massive dual mass flywheel for good reason.

Is the front runner in my mind for an upgraded turbo. It spools only 4-500 rpm later than OE Vs 800-1000rpm later on the heavily worked stock frame hybrids.

Capping the torque hit as it comes in at 3000-3500 should mean I can still run an organic clutch and not cry every time I get stuck in traffic or do a hill start.
