Talking to the guys at Fensport today, they are strongly recommending a fix to the oil pickup and a baffle for the sump, particularly for track work. No use for you of course, but potentially a warning for everyone else.

What fix and what baffle do they recommend?
 
Real shame it ended on a bad note. I felt a bit of an affinity with your car only because the plate is only 2 digits different to mine, means nothing in reality but there you go. Hope its replacement treats you better.
 
Sorry to see it's gone, but I can't blame you. I'm sure you'll love the Lotus, a great car, and one to enjoy while you're still agile enough to get in and out of!

It's probably easier to email Michael at Fensport and ask, as I was distracted by a lot of shiny bits and bobs (strut brace with brake stopper, pedal extender bought!), but there was a 'cage' that fits around the oil pickup to capture the rtv but still leave space for oil to flow. Not sure about the brand of the baffle.

And yes, he did say that an oil cooler was really important too.

Unless the issue crept silently for 1500 mi without any noise, i doubt the light track driving (I'd call it familiarisation) is the source...
The vast vast majority of the driving was pootling along to work and back, with the occasional blast in 3rd on a slip road.
I have driven my MX-5 NC and my Peugeot 106 Rallye far far harder on track or b-roads without issues, so either the GR is inadequate or there was an underlying thing with that particular car. It'll be interesting to see how Toyota responds to my letter.

What sort of temps have you seen so far? Highest so far for me was I think 110c but wasn't always looking at it but that was pushing on a stretch of the Glencoe road. On the motorway last weekend at motorway speeds it tended to hover around 104c when pushing on a bit more.
 
Good luck with the new wheels Greg - hopefully some of us will get the chance to have a look at it at Caffeine & Machine at some point. (y)
