Coming back from the Midlands to Norfolk and suddenly it sounds like a 1970s diesel car, especially on load. Coasted to a services and it sounds like the bottom end is really really *broken*.

Keeps stalling, squeaks and sounds very tappety. Let's see what Toyota says on Monday đŸ˜

Gutted! Keep us updated please

OMFG!. I hope they swiftly get to the bottom of the issue. A crankcase pulley or something like that? Either way it don't sound good. That aside, I'd have thought the car would have been towed with the non-driving wheels on the road? I'm not a recovery man so it's just my thoughts .. I may just be pissing in the wind ... đŸ¤ª

I think those yellow wheels allow the car to be towed like that.
They rotate but the axel doesn’t? That’s what I’m assuming.

I've been dropped off home and the car is on its way to Toyota.

It sounded very very broken, gut feeling is bottom end (crank bearing or similar). I'd say new engine is needed...
Nothing untoward to see under the bonnet, oil was on top of the dipstick yesterday morning, drive 145 mi in the morning, another 100 ish in the evening before the breakage.

4480+ miles altogether đŸ˜

Echo what others have said, sad news and hope it gets fixed soon. I am sure we are all hoping that Toyota customer services tales a step up from what we have seen so far.

Ouch. Hope they can sort you out a courtesy car and get it dignosed quickly. I bet the recovery guy was glad you made it to a service station!

On a side note, it speaks volumes for GR86-zoo forum members that this post wasn't met with a boatload of RTV s@%tposting.

I echo the others and hope you receive a swift resolution and hopefully a good explanation of what the damage was and what could have caused it.

Same, really disappointing news, and worrying from such a low milage car. Hope it gets sorted soon. Hopefully it's a cut and shut warranty case...any modifications on the car?
