Pick up my new Sapphire Blue next week! Exciting times.

I’m just wondering…

My old GT86 used to lose its battery charge after about a week of non use which is something I think it was well known for with the OEM batteries. Eventually had it (battery) changed to something better.

Does the GR86 have a similar issue? Just wondering as working from home now and it’s less likely to be used every day.

I am similar, used at weekends only, and have had one failure to start because the battery was too low.

It's a 48 amp hour battery which I suspect might be on the low side.

Afternoon Arnie, congratulations on your impending collection and great colour choice - sapphire looks fantastic in the metal.

Re. the battery, I too work mostly from home and often go 1-2 weeks without using my car. I'm only on 2k miles since collecting just over eight months ago. I can only report on my own experience, and I have had no problems at all with the battery.

I can't really compare with my previous GT86, as I used to use that daily (different job back then).

Hope this helps, and best wishes for the collection day.

I’ve used these for years. It’s cheaper on Amazon. Use the permanent connector that’s left connected to the battery and it’s super easy to connect and disconnect. If you’re parking it outside then get an outdoor extension lead. Plugged into an outdoor socket.

Not sure if the car has a 12V socket that stays live when the car is switched off? On cars that do I’ve used a cheap solar charger left on the dashboard.

There is a dedicated thread to the battery issues, where I posted my experience - https://www.gr-zoo.com/threads/flat-battery-after-being-parked-for-2-days.2887/post-59653

tl;dr
My car was one sat on Toyota delivery parking for 6 months and I had to jump start it a few times. Finally got AA involved, told me to go to Toyota immediately and request battery replacement since under warranty. Toyota didn't agree, instead they've put it on their charger overnight.

I didn't have problems since, and I drive it maybe 2-3 times a month, 20ish miles each

My previous vehicle lived on a Battery Conditioner from new and I used a ‘Noco Genius 10’ connected via a permanent battery terminal lead. Without any front grille access, getting the plug up into the engine bay meant dropping a cable rod down through the engine, out through a gap near the oil filter, hooking the charger plug and hauling it up like a fisherman with a Lobster pot. I’ll be using the same permanent battery connection but, I’m hoping the GR86 has some easier access points to save my old knees when it comes to routing the cable!

Dead easy on this car. There is a notch on the bulkhead by the battery which I poke my terminal through for a CTEK battery charger.

Part of the problem on GT86 was the alarm drawing too much power, so if car not used/charged would drop battery too low. I believe the alarm was a UK fit on import

Much easier in this car as @Banksy says.

Thanks, although it looks a good idea, mine will be parked outside under a cover and I don't want the lead draped over paintwork (as it means placing a towel on the panel/over the cable). I'm looking for a path from the front grille or underneath. If there isn't an obvious one I guess I'll have to bore a 1" hole in the undertray to feed the connector through...
