GR Yaris (Gen 2) Armijs GR YARIS MK2

I had the Triple-R on my GT86. I had them mounted behind my numberplate but it was too low. I was blinded by the reflections of the lights on the asfalt. Ofcourse the GRY is a higher car so it could be significant better.

Thanks for the feedback. Probably have a look at these as well then. How much did it take you to mount the Lazer lamps alone?

I was doing it together with a colleague, I had three types of mounting kits for lazer, in the end I used two original hole spaces in the front frame, positioning took the most time really, around the crash bar was too high the ledbar with that kind of mount that was popular on mk1. Overall we started at 17:00 finished around midnight, disassembly, positioning, fitting, making the wiring, testing, assembly, both the horn and ledbar. But as I said I still need to procure a decoder so it turns on with oem high beam.

On these two holes in the middle under oem horn. Bought two of these, Mounts

And added some extra braces to the top so it does not wobble that much.

The foam on the crash bar, did it fit back on when reassembling? Are there any free button spaces on Mk2 to put led bar button?

The foam fit back without any issues, I had ordered a button from aliexpress, but that was for Toyota buttons of old think Land Cruiser 120, now I ordered a different one that fits Toyotas of new, Tuesday getting the CAN decoder, when the button arrives will swap it all to be decent.

Button in question: Button , i chose number 7, will slot right next to original auto high beam button, there are two free spaces.

200 series and current 150 series use the same 'square' switches. Not sure about availability in the antipodes but you can get a shed load of options if you google stedi or airbagman on evilbay. Zombie lights etc.

Oh Boy, right so today I got the decoder box, and on we want on installing it, it's CAN right, should it matter where we connect to it ?

So we went right to the obd port, I mean its right next to the switch and everything, easy right ?

Wrong, we hooked it all up, and the Lazer CANM8 box blinks red, no ledbar turning on.

Then we started thinking do we really have to dismantle the whole bloody dash to get the speedo out according to the instructions of CANM8 of old 2020 yaris model, ain't no easy task on the new model, full disassembly of the dash. Luckily our electrician and diagnostician ain't stupid, even though a young lad, as we have access to all Toyota technical info, he started to look where does the wiring loom go from the instrument cluster.

Lo and behold, an easily accessible place on the other side, under the glovebox, a small two wire extension for us, luckily there is space between the two sides underneath that you can even get an arm through, stripping the connection on the cable, hooking all up and Eureka !

The white little box is not blinking anymore and we got ledbar on the original stalk working in tandem. Now just to hook it all up decently and hide all the wires and isolate them, but we got it working quickly and without disassembling most of the car. For anyone's future ledbar needs on mk2, just guide them to this post.

The hookup location is called Gateway ECU, ON LHD cars under glovebox.

Well here we go.

Now we wait for exhaust and mudflaps.
And in a month or so, the winter wheels will get ordered.

Thanks again for all the info! Will become useful for many of us.

Damn, I just can't sit still for a minute đŸ˜‚ Was doing work errands, one stop was a car audio shop, saw the Focal TOY 165 kit on the shelf, is it Yaris compatible? Anyway, that's not what I picked up, bought a sound deadening kit for a coupe just 59 eur, I hate how the doors sound when closing like a tin can rattling and music rattles as well, so I know what I'll be doing on Saturday.

I have the Focal kit installed by previous owner on my mk1. It's plug and play, no wire splicing needed. Assume should be the same for mk2.

Right, today was the day I was doing the sound deadening.

Inside of the door was done in two layers, and the door card in a single layer. Everything was rolled with a roller. And the difference is astounding. Much less road noise, and I can turn it up now up to 50 and no rattling or resonating. Much improved, very happy, probably will also do the rear arches sometime in the future as well. For me it was worth it definitely.

Nice work! I was thinking of doing something like this when mine arrives, since it will be my daily driver. How much weight would you say it added?

5-10 kg ? But it was really worth it.

That's more than I thought, but I may do it anyway. Let's see how much the road noise bothers me...
Honestly I think you can use half he material he used and get 90% the effect. 100% coverage is almost always an overkill.

I would place some bitumen sound deadening strips on the aluminium (the black mass with alu layer) and some sound deadening foam on the panel.

Hi, Nice job! A quick question, you who have access to workshop books. Do you know if the automatic GR has a single-mass flywheel or a dual-mass flywheel?

Hey ! I looked around the techical information but i could not find the distinction unfortunately, maybe it is somewhere deep somewhere, but looking around either the parts catalogue or repair manuals i could not find a definite one or the other.

okay, but in the spare parts, you don't see what kind of flywheel it is for the model with automatic transmission? I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it's a single mass flywheel!
