Still waiting for my car later this year, so just some idle chit chat...

Has anyone been on track with their car yet? How did the OEM components fair? Can the OEM suspension cope or too roly poly? How about the standard brake pads & tyres? Cooling?

In all honesty I'll probably be super precious about my first shiny new car and not go near a circuit, which will be a shame.

I'm sure I saw one on the UK Facebook group had been round Brands, but can't find the post now. In general sounded like it coped okay!

Make sure you get track insurance [emoji106]

Yep was there last Monday. For background my previous track cars have been a stripped out e36 328i and an S2 Lotus Exige S so I'm fairly confident pushing a car hard on track. I kept my sessions to around 15 mins and every few laps would lift and coast a bit at the end of the main straight.

Brakes - 8 degrees ambient and the brakes were fine even when triggering the hazards on every corner. ABS does kick in but only momentarily as opposed to some cars where it seems to stay on way too long

Suspension - Rear feels a little soft so you have to let it 'squat' a bit before it digs in but when it does there's loads of grip. Rear never stepped out suddenly on me only gradually broke traction when i was egging it on

Tyres held up surprisingly well had to let about 7 psi out when they were hot to get back to 33

Was trying to keep half an eye on oil temps, briefly saw 120 but usually below that and drops back down again quickly when trying to cool the car.

Track mode ASC is really unobtrusive, only used it at the very beginning and when a civic dumped a load of oil round half the track but when I was I only saw the light flicker when I was purposely being a bit aggressive

Got 5 days per year insurance with A plan which is great as it covers named drivers too. First corner my wife ever drove on track was Paddock Hill Bend so was glad I had that!

Front PPF including a pillars means paint should still be shiny once i get all the grime off! Got lots of attention in the garage as it was the first time most folks had seen a gr86

Thanks for the write up. Sounds like it can handle it pretty well then, which is good to hear! I currently have an E92 M3 with minimal mods, and it isn't brilliant on track IMO. It really needs £5-10k spending on track upgrades. I preferred my old S2000, which I'm hoping the 86 will be similar to.

I usually get separate track day cover from Moris but I'll give A-Plan a try for a combined policy. If my car ever turns up!

Yeah I feel no need atm to upgrade things until they've worn out so money will go towards an exhaust :)

A plan was an extra £200 for 5 track days which is waaay cheaper than paying per day in my experience!
