Hello

I'm after a bit of guidance, I'm coming from a fwd powerful vag car to a Yaris, it was basically a necessity to have an improved dog bone mount insert to reduce wheel hop etc.

Is this a problem with the Yaris?

Are they any things you would recommend I should be doing engine wise or mounts etc?

Cheers

Hi!

The stock lower gearbox mount for the GR Yaris is in my opinion entirely too soft. You will get a much nicer feeling car, with much crisper gearshift if you upgrade.

You can go for either powerflex inserts, or a new mount. It is really easy to swap.

I am currently running this one: https://collinsperformance.com/shop...-torque-mount-toyota-gr-yaris-xp210-20202024/

Seems like a solid piece of kit. I mounted it not too long ago. It's like a decent middle-ground between being much stiffer than the original mount, but still soft enough to not induce a lot of vibrations.

I can't speak for how durable it is, time will tell, but it looks solidly built, and it wasn't that expensive.

I would avoid the mount from DNA Racing, as the bushings on that broke on me after about 10k kilometres, and on my brother's car after 12k.

Optionally, if you want even less drivetrain movement, you can go for the powerflex inserts on the upper gearbox mount, and the right side engine mount. But the lower gearbox mount is the one that makes the biggest difference by far.

I’d say the big thing is drive it before you change anything.

I've had wheel hop in my older highish power front wheel drive cars but it's never been an issue in the Yaris. At all.

As Ecsrobin says, go drive it before you wonder what needs changing.

Sage advice my friend, I'm driving it from Newcastle to Sussex on Monday, so should give me more than enough time to get to know it .

I think it’s weeks until you truly get to understand how a car feels in all conditions (and for those owners that do a 1,000 miles a year probably never get dialled in as they use it so infrequently).

Mine is going to be my everyday car and very much looking forward to it.

I use mine as my daily as well but it wasn't until I got it on my favourite roads that I was really able to assess the car's abilities. You will probably have your favourite roads as well and need to explore the car on these before making any decisions about mods.

Not an issue at all in the GR Yaris.
The issue is called’Tramping’ and it’s very common in front engined , front wheel drive powerful cars. I’ve suffered with 3 different VAG cars and updated the gearbox mount to reduce the issue.

Downshift carefully in bends if stock mounts all around to avoid moneyshift. I suggest even the softest inserts all around to reduce engine and gearbox movement and equalize the forces on all 3 mounts. Personally have DNA torque mount for 38000km now, powerflex black engine mount insert and yellow gearbox mount insert.
