GR Yaris 👎 Negatives - what annoys, disappoints, puzzles and generally irks you about the GR Yaris?

Long drive yesterday from Kent to the south coast. Ears were ringing from the extended motorway driving road noise and back was giving me grief by the time I arrived at my destination. Not much lumbar support is there?! Car redeemed itself on a drive along the coast though and the switchback roads from Eastbourne to Seaford. Car is definitely better suited to A and B roads than motorway miles.

I disagree. I munch up plenty of motorway miles with no complaints.

Love that road!

I chucked a cushion into the lumbar area of the seat as soon as I had taken it out for a first drive. I couldn't drive anything without one of those now.
For me, having spent the last few days putting 300miles on it with the winters, I was hoping with the taller side wall it might have damped down the sound a little, but I forgot to consider that they are run flats so over some terrain it is even noisier.
The noise has to be the only thing I would say is quite a big negative on this thing to the point I would say that dailying a GRY would be a nightmare. I guess however that must be put in the context of the roads on which it is driven - roads are awful here in England.

Om swedish granite roads pitted by studded tyres, it was awful. But doing a anti-corrosion treatment also in the wheelwells, the noise levels subsided to bearable levels. FYI

Thanks for that. Was wondering what I might be able to do for it.

I laugh every time I touch the scratchy plastics that are so often seen as highlighting a cheap and nasty car as in the Yaris they are not important, but the one thing that frustrates and disappoints me more than anything is the ridiculously thin paintwork.

The slightest mark on my red car shows up the white base coat, and the paint appears so thin I worry about touching the marks.

The interior plastics are quite terrible indeed. It might be “only a Yaris”, but damn they’re terrible.
I concur about the paint, my Precious Metal Gen2 was painted as if the paint was an actual precious metal.

EDIT: about the noisy tires; what would be a quieter choice for the summer? I find the Pirelli Sottozero winters at least bearable on the highway and definitely do not want anything noisier for the summer. I’d rather buy a new set than endure the Michelins’ soundtrack.

I do wonder if anyone has actually resprayed their undamaged car simply to get a decent coat of paint on it

-The auto wipers never seem to work properly. Works then doesn't its just never consistent. Sometimes it refuses to activate until you manually flick it on and off. Could be a warranty issue or potentially from using glass coatings but never had that issue in other cars.
-Jbl speakers are too forward focused and there's basically nothing going on in the rear.
- the car is honestly a bit of a nightmare on tight roads/parking. I never really get the sense of where the front end is and the rear being flared out throws off your senses a little.
- adaptive cruise can be a little slow to accelerate up to speed.
-auto highbeams are junk because they flick on and off constantly in cities but are slow to engage and re-engage in the countryside.
