GR86 Rear Facing Car Seats in an 86?

Yes, it’s 100% doable but you will need a ‘can do’ attitude! We have an Axkidd Mini Kid 2 (4 is the latest model), which is tested to a very high level (it’s Swedish) and we still use it for our soon-to-be five year old. Before that, we had an isofix baby seat in the rear of the GT. Having...

GR86 What did you do with your GR86 today

Added at least 10hp by fitting these bolt caps to both sides. Can’t currently justify a japanparts order for all the TRD/GR bits I want, so £7.10 spent at the local Subaru dealer feels like a small treat that makes the car slightly more ‘OEM+’.

GR86 What did you do with your GR86 today

I promoted the GR to daily driver status today. I purchased an 05 Fabia after being left carless having sold the GT in anticipation of the GR being delivered - only for it to subsequently sit in Derby for a few months. What was meant to last six months stayed for three and a half years! With...

GR86 What did you do with your GR86 today

It could be worse, you could have taken it to Northampton for a service… Riverside Retail Park is ‘blessed’ with a Tesla dealership, Ford, Mercedes, Hyundai, Honda, Peugeot, Nissan, Mazda and MG. Other than an electronic poster advertising the Prelude, an MX5 and a Dark House Mustang (literally...

GR86 The GR86 & Supra confusion collation thread

Other than the obvious ‘it’s not a Supra if it’s not made in Japan’ (which I get) is it actually a negative that the Supra has a BMW backbone? Having never had a BMW I don’t know, but the build quality, etc is generally pretty good isn’t it? Always struck me as a slightly odd argument given how...

GR86 "That's a fresh whip bruv"; or the Toyota GR86 collated feedback thread

Driving through a village this evening a lad had a proper slack-jawed open-mouth gawp and stare as I went by… I assume it was the car he was looking at but it may have been the beagle on the passenger seat!

All models My T by Toyota no longer supported

Guessing not all models are supported as yet on the new app… Still access everything via the Toyota site though.

    GR86 Honeymoon period over?

I’ll have had it three years come December and I’m only just coming up to 10,000 miles. I’m still very much in a honeymoon period, maybe because it only gets used once or twice a week. The more I use it though the more I get in tune with it and I’m starting to get less precious about stone...

Have these made any difference? They are on my list of potential ‘affordable diy oem+ mods’. Not expecting them to revolutionise the handling but do they at least make the door close more nicely??

GR86 What did you do with your GR86 today

Well done! The wife and I had a trip with our (then) 2 year old to Belgium and back - amazing what you can achieve with a bit of ‘can do’ attitude! Sure you already have, but do get a sun screen for the rear window - it’s a bit of a greenhouse in the back!

GR86 What did you do with your GR86 today

We’ve been ‘blessed’ with starlings murmurating over the village since new years, so the GR has been hibernating under a cover since the end of January - wiping it down with PB Bird Sh*t remover every night was getting too much! While a wonderful sight, I think everyone in the village has had...

GR86 Rear seats delete (kind of!)

Here it is on Japanparts: https://www.japanparts.com/parts/detail/?id=63035 A little hard to visualise with their product photo(!) so here’s the image from the Subaru catalogue:

GR86 Rear seats delete (kind of!)

Subaru actually do a very similar privacy cover for the BRZ, along with some other nice accessories that Toyot don’t do. Been very tempted but not sure the OCD could cope with BRZ branding in my GR!

It’s spot on with every detail, really nice quality and great if you’ve had a previous gen 86 like I did.

GR86 What did you do with your GR86 today

Had a birthday a couple of days ago and the wife treated me to some goodies… the model came from Japan while the poster made its way from New Zealand! Was also gifted a set of protective wheel nut sockets, among other things, so all in all a decent haul!

    Lexus RC-F, GS-F, IS-F, LC 500, IS 500

It is a hard car to ignore and I certainly haven’t shaken it off yet! I keep wondering if it’s simply that it was better than I expected, rather than brilliant in its own right. After all, I was convinced it would be big, wallowing, unengaging, etc. But I am genuinely impressed by it (I came...

    Lexus RC-F, GS-F, IS-F, LC 500, IS 500

It was the Carbon with TVD. I was expecting some big wallowing thing but found it surprisingly agile going around a few roundabouts and twisties. Once you understand that it is a different creature to the GR86 you appreciate how good it is at what it does. Despite coming straight out of the 86 I...

    Lexus RC-F, GS-F, IS-F, LC 500, IS 500

RC F is very much on my watch list, there’s so much to admire in my opinion - the looks, build quality and ‘luxury’, performance, the engine, etc, etc. It’s the big brother to the GR86 in so many ways. I’d always written it off because of the auto box which, along with the weight, I thought...

    Dream Cars?

Honestly haven’t given this much thought but with an Euromillions win there’s a few ‘must haves’… 1. DB6 MKII Vantage, manual, Dubonnet Rosso, black interior (tan possibly). The wife has the exact specs and knows to source this immediately upon the funds landing in the bank account. 2. Willys MB...
