GR86 Rear seats delete (kind of!)

As I play golf twice a week my rear seats were nearly always flat. No one ever sat in them. But I didn't like seeing all the stuff I needed to carry around. Security was also an issue as I didn't have security glass tints. So I put in a rear seat delete using the existing seats brackets and catches, so it is held in place firmly and it can be fully removed within a few minutes. It suits my needs well. I even put in a phone holder for when I need to charge my phone. (Only used on long trips). I know it adds weight but this doesn't bother me. I thought I would share a photo on here.

It's not perfect but it does the job. My DIY abilities are virtually non existent so plenty of planning and tweaking.

Thanks. I always wanted seats available so the MOT wasn't an issue with rear seatbelts. Dismantled easily. I used very cheap bonnet pins to secure the top section. The look very neat.

Subaru actually do a very similar privacy cover for the BRZ, along with some other nice accessories that Toyot don’t do. Been very tempted but not sure the OCD could cope with BRZ branding in my GR!

That's some serious DIY for someone who claims not to do any btw!
As an added bonus, maybe when you're not playing golf, you can fit in a wee backshift at a Funeral Directors, or some specialist 'cleaning work' for the local Gangsters!? :ROFLMAO:

My golf game usually makes me feel like I've been to a funeral. Now the car matches my mood 😁
 
I really like this . I want to do this as well . what all did you use it's construction it looks fantastic.

I'm glad you like it. I've lived with it for a while and am very happy with it. It's solid! No movement or squeaks or noise. I had the idea for it when I found two U brackets that fitted the rear seat catches. So most of the stuff I had lying around. I used a piece of wood flooring to bridge the two U brackets. Two short bonnet pins were fitted through the centre of the brackets and plank. I secured them with small squares of wood and a knurled knob to clamp everything in place. I was just then a case of making the rear upright and the top, which was secured by one Allen bolt. All was covered by material I bought from eBay which was staples. I have attached a couple of photos.

Thank you for the response and pics . I'm looking into some material now and once I make the dimensions I can hopefully get started on it.

Good luck. I found my template for the upright section. It might be of help. The angle is the same the back of the seat at it's furthest point.
