Been waiting for Harry to do a review and pleased to see he appreciated the fundamentals of the driving experience. As someone who also has a (race) Caterham, the rear drive handling balance is exactly why I bought a GR86. Good to see Harry can see the comparison too.

Took a trip across the Brecon Beacons. The GR was awesome across these roads. The low weight, steering response, balance and grip meant it just flowed along the road carrying speed and putting a smile on my face. Wouldn’t have swapped it for anything else on these roads!

The limit here is not bhp/litre or emissions equipment, it’s lbft/litre. The FA24 is making 183 lbft from 2387cc =76.7 lbft/Litre. This is pretty good going for an NA engine, achieved with some clever design. In comparison, as Hondas were mentioned; Honda b16a3=111/1.595= 69.6 Honda...

There’s not much more to gain with NA tuning. Exhaust mods might help take out the torque dip between 3.5-4.5k rpm but otherwise the torque curve is nice and flat and holds strong up to redline. Bolting on a turbo/supercharger is the easier way to more power from this point.

Current plan is that it’ll be passed on in my will.

Great graph, it’s a super impressive specific output for a stock car with a 10 year warranty. It’s getting close to 100bhp/litre and there’s not many production NA cars that achieve that. What mods were made to the intake as a 10bhp gain is decent!

I found the clips holding the rear bumper to undertray aren’t very tight. Tap the rear bumper and it rattles. I took out the clips and added some foam number plate tape between the 2 surfaces. Rattle now gone. Also, the dampers seem to be a bit clunky when cold. Goes away after a short drive.
