Get it repaired asap before it starts spreading. I had one a year ago and it was about £35 at Halfords. They'll tell you if it's repairable and refund if it's not. I left a previous small chip for 3 months and ended up with a new screen after a sudden hot spell spread the crack 3ins. 😲
"...while i was eating my Panino..."
😀 Wonderful to see the correct singular spelling there! So surprised that I nearly knocked over both my Cappuccini. 😂
That's outrageous - why don't you just cut a bit of thin aluminium plate to appropriate size, drill 3 holes in it and buy some bolts & washers? Nobody's going to see it after all.
Am I correct in assuming that the rear differential on the 86 has both a 'fill' and a 'drain' plug? I've twinged my back and can't crawl under to look and I want to order some diff oil and plugs/crush washers. I have part references for all.
🤔 Mmm... I see my reply to this has been appended to the bottom of Kobayashi's original. 🙄 It said:
"When I accessed their website to see the schedule of each service, I selected a dealer miles away that didn't have my records on file. That gave me full details of each annual service."
👍 I'd like to see Toyota GB direct all dealers to produce a schedule sheet for each appropriate service, with ticks/remarks as needed. Some Scottish dealers do this already (illustrated on here some while ago) and I don't see why this can't be standard practice. It would stop all this nonsense...
£470 was the 2nd service price last year (now £545) and changing the diff oil is part of the service, so yours should be done for free. I was charged £365 for my 2nd service a month ago - which implies that I only received an intermediate service - and that's why I'm being asked to pay I...
Several of you have taken your cars back to the dealers to have the diff oil changed after it was omitted in the 2-year service. Can anyone give me the price they were charged for this?
So good to hear about people using old cars as their second vehicle. Mine is a 56 plate Mark 2 Yaris and it's usually used for journeys less than 30mls. Toyota really knew how to produce a robust car then - there's no rust on the bodywork (were they galvanized?) and in contrast to the 86, the...
Washed the car this morning for the first time in ages. The Bilt Hamber 'Double Speed-Wax' I put on some months ago seems to have lasted very well, but I applied an extra coat to the more horizontal surfaces - roof, bonnet & boot - to give some protection against bird drone attacks (mainly...
Finally got the definitive list of servicing requirements for each annual service. Go to the URL below and go through the initial stages of booking a service (don't choose your own dealer as it only worked for me if I chose another - possibly because it records that I've recently had a service...
Thanks for rapid reply. Wow! Bit of a difference in costs there. I'll go back to the dealer (and it will probably be my last ever contact with them). Before I do, can anyone else on here give me the diff oil cost on their appropriate invoices?
