GR86 GR86 - What wheels and tyres are you thinking about?

...Not looking further anymore, at least for daily and winter setup (retaining stock 18").
18x9J ET42, Apex VS5-RS forged replicas, with 245/35 Yokohamas V107.

Must admit, car really gains a lot and shines with forged, high quality wheels. Definitely looks "more expensive" now than ever.

Also, assured myself, the "small" sport pinch on wheel is what you are after on sports car. The 215 on 7,5J setup was ideal, happy to return to same side tyre profile with Yokohama tyres.
 
Looks great, did you need to mess with the rear at all to fit the 9j?
Also intrested where you got them, been sitting on the fence for sometime with these wheels.

Car is dropped around 20mm F and R, with approx. -2,25* negative camber at the rear and -2,70 at front, so not needed to mess around.
As long as car is lowered, natural camber gain will allow you to fit 245/35 tyres on 9J wheels without issues. 255 and 9,5J is a different story tho.

Does someone have experience with Goodyear F1 Assymetric 6 tires or SuperSport? I'm considering one of these however I want to be sure they don't squeal during drifting or when having lot's of wheelspin.

I'm unsure what your threshold is for squealing volume, but my F1 A6 squeal if i do a drifty launch out of a T-junction, but I'm pretty sure most tyres do. I can't say how loud because my exhaust pushes most other noises into the background.

They are a very good tyre though as many on here will agree.
 
Consider the pirelli PZ5 as well. The Goodyear asy6 was a good tyre but pz5 has taken over the crown now.

Yeap, really happy with my F1 Asy 6, I prefer them over the stock PS4s and V105s I had on my GT86, really can't knock them for the price. Not sure how well they would hold up to track work though.

I'm sure the tire will be fine for my purpose which is road use, however I needed the quietest tires I can find. I don't want to draw attention when having fun.

Thanks to @Sonic for recommending Skidz in Falkirk. Came in significantly cheaper than any online retailer, and were able to clone existing TPMS codes to new sensors.

I agree. They do look great. Do you have any spacers fitted?
 
When I was fitting mine, I measured (with a stick) that I had around 20mm of poke to play with before I'd end up having to go with some sort of 'ricer' squat stance. I subsequently chose 18x8" with a 42 offset, but looking at those 8.5 with the same offset I'm currently giving a nod of appreciation. I'd be tempted to fit a 235/40R18 to give me a perfect sidewall with no stretch and a solid contact patch but that's just my own taste ... Oh FFS now this has got me looking at ANOTHER set of wheels! ;)

PS: Glad you enjoyed your experience at SKIDZ. They've always gone out of their way to provide good customer service with me, including ordering yet another custom powder from the USA at no cost to me, which is for my BOLA FLE Summer wheels that I dropped off on Thursday just gone. Hopefully I'll be picking the wheels up next week and I'll then ceramic coat them over the Winter period whilst my car is away.

The Bola site actually shows that the wheels are available in 8J, however, every retailer I asked stated this was unavailable, and I could only get 8.5J.

I spent a lot of time reading this thread, and looked at what specs many members had. I knew 45 would get pretty close to strut and wanted a bit more of a safety margin without excess poke.

The 225 is quite noticeably stretched, not much rim protection, but takes up less space in arch with less chance of clearance issues.

I took the measurements from @KobayashiMaru86 set up, shown here:

Put the wheels on. Not the best of pics as I was rushing as I had somewhere else to go. TWS T66-F 18x8.5 et42. Very close to the front shocks with the camber bolts but is OK. Feel noticeably lighter than stock wheels and weigh 6.9kg each which I double checked. Visually looks dramatically different to the black wheels so will take some getting used to. Changed to Goodyear AS6 which will also be a nice change after years of Michelin. Does make me think more about shocks and brakes but that will have to be next year. Service due in 2 weeks and no doubt a whole load of drama getting them...

Did a lot of thinking about it at the time. Brother went 18x8 on his GT86. When I went to order with the Desmond rep I saw an 8.5 ET42 was an option and it did say it would fit but close. It is very close. Probably 6mm from the front strut. There'd be plenty of room if on coilovers but I've run them for nearly 2 years now with no issues apart from soft paint on them as they've picked up the odd mark. But it's a lightweight motorsport alloy so I did expect this. They use this alloy but a different size in the Cup series.
