Solarplexious finally listed the GR86 as cars available for their perspex tinted window solution. I bought the rear and rear quarters window set for about £115, this did include a discount code. So not expensive at all and worth a try. They said easy fit and by and large it was, apart from moving about in the back. I'm too big for this really. The side windows was really easy. They recommend using masking tape to protect trim but after doing one and having it stick to everything I didn't bother with the rest. The rear window perspex looked too big to fit, but it wasn't. I eventually got it in position but noticed I had dislodged part of the trim at the end of the parcel shelf. I tried to get it back in position but couldn't do it. I need to remove some trim to gain access but it was so hot and uncomfortable I will do this another day. To attach you use short strips that stick to the perspex and slots into the trim. The problem I found was there wasn't any trim close enough to the glass behind the rear parcel shelf. I ended up sticking them on the perspex and resting on the shelf. There are a couple of places on the side window to secure it in place. I been out today and everything seems to be holding in place, no movement or rattles. The tint is dark so you cannot see anything from the outside in, but you can see out obviously. It does look good so am quite happy with it. Time will tell if it stays in place.

I've had a HKS Foam panel filter in since I got the car, but it wasn't 'cleanable' and it was dirty so . . .
Does this replace the stock air filter, or is it for the TRD intake?
It's for the stock air intake. Just make sure to apply the sticker to the air box so that the dealership doesn't take it out come service time.

I looked on eurocarparts yesterday and only one air filter came up related to my plate, not K&N though. Can anyone confirm this is still available?

I took the door cards off so that I could finally install the Focal speaker kit I bought from @Alex-GR86 a while back.
While I was at it, I fitted the sound deadening he included, and the window mechanism washers to stop the 'crack' that had developed after it was parked up for 6 weeks after my eye operation.
I also wrapped the top tether covers in the same fake suede I did the A-pillar trims in, as it annoyed me that they reflect in the back window.

Anyway, pleased to report that the sound is improved and the windows no longer crack.

Google the part number (33-5060) and Eurocarparts came up on the search Link (although it does now say temp. unavailable)
Missus and her mum took our newborn out for a shopping trip earlier, so I finally had some time to wash the car and apply some fresh ceramic coat to the bumper replaced after the accident back in May. Weeks of heatwaves and dry dusty weather, plus it hardly being driven, meant it looked a right state, and it's been getting me down that I haven't had time to keep on top of it, so I was pleased to get the opportunity to make it shine again. Even though I'll probably not drive it for ages again

You're welcome ... I've even used it on my Alloy Wheels as an annual protective ceramic layer to good effect.
I considered doing them but it would have taken too long. Perhaps when I get another few hours at some point I'll do them separately.
Despite keeping some distance behind, this truck threw off a projectile, hitting my near-side headlight...
The only place I've put ppf is on the headlights, which saved the day!

Last week had a week up North Wales and Anglesey. Did about 1600 miles over the 2 weeks off Car was good all the way. It's really is a fantastic thing. Still need to do brakes and the bonnet does shimmy a bit in heavy cross winds but that was my only quibbles. Before I went I swapped back to the stock air filter as a friend with a Volvo was having oil burn issues and found it was way worse with his ram air filter in. I'd used a bit since fitting my K&N and like many, thought PCV valve so have one to fit. Sceptical but I tried stock filter and over that time it hasn't used a drop. Will monitor. Could even be topping up with Millers could've been the difference but it did 32mpg over the trip.

Reference the bonnet shimmy. I talked with a previous owner of a GT86 at Go Japan who said that the two rubber circular rubber buffers at the front right and front left can be turned to tune the height of the bonnet.
No idea if he was correct or talking a load of bull. I did suspect the later at the time. But it might help??

Good. He's in a box in the back with seats folded down. He puts his back into a corner of it and he actually prefers the speed as the smoother I can drive it, the faster and less disruptive it is for him. He was in my cousin's car one day last week for the first time and he hated it. On stretches of dual I'll undo the zip and he'll come out for a look for a few mins, then go back in. He's also hooked in on a car lead but can still move enough so he can get comfy.

Done that. Turn them up so they touch the bonnet when it's closed. But when it gets hot, the bonnet swells slightly. Do it too much and you get massive gaps.
Took Part in "86 Fest" at Mondello Park, just outside Dublin, last Sunday. Billed as the largest gathering of AE86s outside Japan the event is also open to other Toyotas for show or on track action. The event had "legendary Japanese drift duo" Shinji & Masayo Minowa and a drift demonstration.
One of the event highlights is the parade lap in the afternoon, led out by the VIP guests and the AE86s.
Being from Belfast my car was part of the UK allocation and I know of a handful in NI. But the GR86 was never sold officially in ROI, so its an even rarer beast than normal down that direction. So it was interesting to see the blue there GR86 on Irish plates. It was a Japanese import, 2023 model year. Base trim interior but Brembo brake package.
