GR86 What did you do with your GR86 today

Would coilover socks help for longevity? Obviously you lose the ability to show them off as much 😁.

On a side note - does anyone have experience with Nitron's?

Just got back from trip up North for work, completing 450 miles in the last 24hours. Despite being mostly motorway, loved taking the GR, I find it a great place to be for a long solo drive. Podcast on the wireless, cruise control set, the lights are great on the motorway at night and managed an average of 37.6mpg.

Before I set off, gave it a quick wash and my son decided to take some pictures with his new iPhone 17 pro max… came out alright.

A car that trains it's driver. You have to stay in tune with it to get the best out of it. I'm even driving it in all sorts of different shoes, whereas before I'd be really fussy.
I'm glad it's not just me!

I can get in the westfield having not touched it for ages, and when its eventually started after sitting all winter with old fuel I have no issues at all driving it, and thats with a "motorsport" clutch with old fashioned cables for clutch and carbs!

AHAHAHH A i have specific shoes to drive this car
I used to. Was either something barefoot or very thin soled like Puma Speedcats but lately I've been in Inov8 trail runners that have chunky grip which should be terrible but now they've worn a bit they work just fine. Did 6hrs going from Swansea to North Wales and back a few weeks ago no issues. Car was mega and with a Shiba in a box in the back.

I still get days when I regularly drive it where it will be bad. Seat won't feel right, I'll feel out of position, can't get a smooth run. Similar to the bike sometimes too. If there's too much of it I won't push on or even go home. But the more seat time you have the better. A lot of it is you and not the car.

Had the car in for an oil change today. Miller's 0W20 (5L + 1L bottle), filter and washer supplied. I usually take it to Toyota Helensburgh (thoroughly recommend!) but due to being quite busy I opted to get it done at the local independent Subaru garage. £99 which is almost double what Helensburgh were charging but it saved me the drive.

Was told it would be an hour or two but was approaching afternoon and still hadn't been called so wandered back down. Job was done, paid and went to collect the car in the car park across the street. Now having cleaned the car beforehand (inside and out) I was pretty annoyed to be greeted to mud caked all over the door sill and floor mat. Even worse was the mud around the dash light dimmer area that had obviously been kicked as they got in. Seat had been adjusted all over the shop, a pen lid jammed in the crease of the seat, rear mirror diagonal and dash cam wires pulled. Not just out the cam itself but some from under the liner too. Popped the bonnet to take a look and there were spots of oil all over the engine bay and even trickling down the front of the paintwork and Toyota badge. I then think "where the hell is the rest of the 1L bottle?". Went back in and they had to hunt for it. Brought it out with no lid which they'd managed to misplace so ended up getting them to pour it into another container. To top it off the invoice doesn't even mention any of the work they did, just the price.

Next time I think I'll just drive to Helensburgh or buy some jack stands and do it myself!

Edit: Found the oil bottle lid, it was hanging on for dear life to a corner of the air filter box. Absolute amateurs.

Dam sad that is , I did the service on Toyota Hedge end last week went good they did what i have asked and was happy only did this last time as the cost of £395 , not worth it in my opinion , was once off added some warranty for the year i guess not sure waht that is worth it to be honest

Was excited to see the latest preview for Forza Horizon 6 exploring car customisation. Was less excited to see the GR86 will again be the US spec base model with 17in rims, orange side markers and horrible recessed exhaust tips. Couldn't have been that hard to make a few edits given the game is actually in Japan!

Drove it for the first time in a few months after hibernating in the garage to avoid the worst of the winter weather and salt. Put some fresh fuel in and drove home the long way, nice to be behind the wheel again. Roll on spring!☀️
