Finally got round to doing this job. I am not that 'creative' and eventually ended up buying some plug and play speakers from a company in Germany. Was a bit of a faff getting them fitted but got there eventually - there's not a great deal of room in the back of that thing! I still need to tweak...

Yeah, same - showed wear and discolouring (where your heel sits) in no time at all. Not good when you consider how much they cost.
