GR Yaris Roof Rack/ bars

Got the kit today - bit unsure if I will use it as rubber bads do not align on the roof as they should which leaves the holding force to the metal clamp only - not the most bullet proof assembly.

The rubbers should align like this but the metal claws are 1cm too short to make it happen.

Dont know if some other claws would be little longer to make a correct mount.

Have a look at previous pics. Rear rubber sits nicely on Slope of roof edge . The locking Tightening mechanism is very firm and both sides tighten to hold the whole bar firmly on roof unlike most bars the whole thing
Is held down both sides pulling it down solidly . When firm I cannot Move mine at all . I lined mine up with the roof beams found with stud finder .

Foot fitting is wider at rear to
Accomodate the more lateral rubber position

Quite a few cars have mounts on roof side .
The rubber feet merely Position the bar and protect Paint . Have had mine on and off a few times now with no scratches or paint marks .

Could you measure your positioning of the bars to the GR window - would help greatly in setup!
Maybe using following reference points
- front window corner
- rear window upper corner

400 front. And 220 rear
Bars are 720 part at that position and near roof strengthening cross members

Rear pads sit a bit on the sloping part, hopefully it won't budge e.g. in the rain.

If so great news for all those that have bikes or want to go skiing. And over here, a roofbox is a classic trick for making a car more practical without buying a bigger, heavier, car. With no Corolla to upsize to...

That looks like the wrong foot pack, different to Lanman’s.

His doesn’t have the lip on the inner edge, meaning they sit further down, allowing the clamp to reach the window.

Which foot pack do you have @Lanman ?

I have the same. Its the matter how you position the legs with bars (narrow vs wide)
Install is okeyish but not for anything big.
Drivers side front leg mounts nicely to both sides so could be tested if 252 leg type is best for at least front bar leg mounting point?

Note that GRs nice inclining roof creates wing with anything larger surface area 🤔

Vintage car exhaust. Quick trip 70 mph . Checked mounts and couple extra turns on tightening

Looks good ! The rubber lip on the foot process Is quite soft and squashes nicely on tightening! Grip of clamps is excellent and bars immovable when clamped. Did retention after my exhaust carrying jaunt so mechanism settling in methinks ! Did adjust side mirrors so keep an eye on rear bar , no worries, and can open window to reach front bar. Rear bar foot needs to be a couple of cm further out than front which makes it easy when refitting!

Like the window sticker !

What length are your bars?

I’ll probably try fitting my bars at some point. I have a few foot kits from various cars going back about 20 years so something will probably fit.

Don’t think I’ll use them on the car very much, but it’s nice to have the option. Thanks @Lanman for being the guinea pig!

Seemed to take forever but this set of bars is so well made .

I did consider a range of roof rails to fit bars too. It would have meant
Too much work with roof trim etc .
