I am thinking of getting a Cobra resonated secondary exhaust. So I thought I would contact my insurance company to see what difference it would make. I am with Direct Line in the UK. They said they would not insure me with this exhaust. I found this unbelievable as this would be the only modification. If anyone has this exhaust could you please let me know which insurance company you are with?

Did you state that it was a cosmetic exhaust change and not a performance upgrade? Sometimes insurers get twitchy with performance stuff.
I insured this year with @HowdenSpecialistInsurance, who are part of this forum. The policy covers my Cobra non-res, BlackVue 2ch Dashcams and wider (non-OEM) wheels/tyres - it ended up being cheaper than SwiftCover, which is another decent one to get a quote from.

Direct Line don't cover any modifications in general

Hi, I had this exhaust albeit non res. on my BRZ and now AWE track on the GR. Both no problem at all with Aviva on line.

Thank for your info. I sent them the link to the exact exhaust so they knew which one it was. I will definitely try insurance companies recommended through here.

It looks like I have some phone calls to make as you prove it can be done.

I have the performance pro exhaust on my Mini cooper S insured through LV and they never charged me it was at renewal And they added it on after the quote. All shows on the policy.
I am thinking of an exhaust swap on the GR. Wouldn’t want to have to pay more than a minimal fee though. So will be interested to see what people say on here

I added my Cobra exhaust to my Churchill policy, as a cosmetic modification. There was no increase in premium and no charge for adding it. All seems odd as they're owned by the same company as Direct Line.

Thanks for the Howden car insurance recommendation. I phoned them and got the cheapest quote and most comprehensive cover I found. And £90 cheaper than Direct Line. And the Cobra exhaust addition was no problem.

Excellent news! So glad that it worked out for you; no doubt a weight off your mind too. Don't spend all that £90 on sweets btw ...
