GR86 What did you do with your GR86 today

I’m only at 104 miles since December delivery (long story) and “had” to hit 7000 rpm in an overtake today. Just the once - not my fault, just seems every fast ford or bmw wants to race you in a GR86 should you dare to overtake?

Can’t wait to get past 1000 miles and play at the higher revs.

I'm not a fan of powder coated wheels. It's supposedly a more durable and chip resistant finish, but I have found that be the complete opposite. The finish isn't great and it's brittle, that might be due to application but I'd prefer painted. It also doesn't heat up the wheel for curing which can make them more brittle apparently.

There is probably a good argument as to why OEMs don't use powder coating on their wheels.
OEMs (if we’re talking about all makes) will often stick a diamond cut wheels as a standard, so there’s that.

I wouldn’t look up to them as the best decision makers.

I attempted to get a 4-wheel alignment check, but only once the car was on the machine, sensors bolted to the wheel (eek), did they turn around and say 'GR86 isn't on the computer mate', can't take any measurements'. Wish they'd told me at time of booking when they took the model details ..

I noticed too that the GR86 and the new BRZ aren't in many systems yet. Or many shops lack latest FW updates.

However, when it comes to alignment, it is fine to use the previous gen template.

Drove across to Falkirk and placed an order for a new set of wheels (Bola FLE in Hyper Black), Tyres (Goodyear F1 Asym' 6), new TPMS and to also have the OEM wheels (currently silver chrome) refurbished in Piano Black.

Now that the running in period is over I'm starting to get what this car is all about; on the way home, holding 4th for a roll-on overtake (fifty to eighty three, erm I mean Sixty of course) was an aural pleasure with the Cobra exhaust (ESG is off)... ;)
Edit: YouTube has blocked the video in certain regions as it picked up the music I had playing. Sorry Canada/US.

The GR86 is listed in the Bartec TPMS tool that my tyre fitter used to code Bartec sensors for me a couple of weeks ago. I didn't ask him about the BRZ.

Ahh, the joy of an open road with overtaking opportunities. Doesn't happen round here.. and if it did, there would be a camera.

They refused to use settings for a GT86. Covering themselves I guess (plus isn't the wheelbase a touch different?)

When I had mine in for correcting some PPF issues I opted to get my windows tinted, 5% in rear and 50% on the doors

Today I did a c.210 mile round trip for work (about 4.5 hours driving). Mostly motorways, average 37mpg.

Apart from some tyre roar on crap surfaces the car is surprisingly good as a distance cruiser/GT, in my opinion. Great seats help. And I still can't believe the difference in mid-range grunt compared with the GT86. I don't think I've ever felt the need for more power/torque in 15 months of ownership.
