Event Japfest 2024 - 7th April 2024 - Silverstone Circuit

Don’t forget people, we can also ‘team up’ with you on our way down south too! 🙂
I’ll be using the A68 from Edinburgh to Scotch Corner services, then after meeting with @chopper602 our likely route (between 12:00 to 15:30) will be the A1, M18 and M1 (j14) to Milton Keynes.
If you want us to call in at a particular services during our journey let us know and we’ll do our best to accommodate 🫡
Perhaps I'll see you en route.

I could follow the trail of dislodged AliExpress bits to find you. Kind of like a motoring version of Hansel and Gretel. Hansel and GRetel, if you will.

;)

Erm @Sonic , we'll miss out the M18 and continue along the A1(M) onto the M1, so we miss out the area of roadworks on the A1 (Wentbridge area)

Like a Halfords delivery van with its back doors missing, there’ll be baubles and trinkets bouncing all over the carriageway 🛼⚽🍌⚙️🧻

I will see you all at Scotch Corner at a far more palatable time 😁👍

Due to the demise (not *really* dead, just gone 'incommunicado') of the 'local detailer' that @Sonic had booked for his arrival in MK, the meeting time has been revised to 11:30-12:00 at Scotch Corner Services, so if you're interested you can spend a little more time in bed / polishing / waxing before setting off!
Sorry to hear the detailer has gone AWOL. On the plus side that’s a much more sociable meeting time 😀 so I’ll join you for the remainder of the trip down. 👍🏼

Are any of you good people bringing a guest, or guests?

I mentioned it to Ms. Fox, whose lack of enthusiasm was overwhelming.

To quote, she asked if it would be "a load of middle-aged men in a field talking about cars looking at the same type of car (and perhaps some other very similar cars), plus some idiots skidding around a track, whilst you eat bad chips?".

I know - outrageous isn't it.

Don't worry comrades I soon put her right.
I told her there would probably be burgers as well as the chips.

I'm likely to be bringing my wife, but I'm lucky that she's into cars as well.

At the moment, my other half has agreed to attend. I recently had to remind her about that as she seems to have some work trips soon which usually involve airport runs on Sundays.

MrsChopper was not enthusiastic when I first mentioned it, talk of a hotel stay piqued her interest, but she's staying at home (she did come with me to the mudbath of Fairford Airshow last year, so I don't always go alone).

Naw, simple. The same answer I gave when asked to go to Harry Potter world or some other nonsense.

My good friend Leon always joins me but alas he is on holiday!!
Fortunately Mrs ByeBye-MX5 is as astute as Ms Fox and has declined my generous offer of a 30 quid boiled burger that will guarantee her Monday off work!!

As a note it does get very very busy and if I recall the gates open to show cars at 7am (that will of course be confirmed or denied by the organiser!!) and I always find its best to get there as close to that as possible to avoid the queues to get in that invariably happen and get off about a bit earlier which is easier than getting out the car park!!

Yes Mrs B is attending with me. Not overly into cars but loves a road trip and night or two away so was an easy sell for me! 😂

Crickey, I hope that isn't my Mrs B, she said she was going to Harry Potter world?! 🤦🤔😁 Time to dig up the 'go-bag' and hit the road 😁

I shall now not be attending this event. Mrs Sonic decided to do some gardening and dive onto the patio, giving one of our proper big railway sleepers a full weight right forearm smash on the way down. Luckily for her I heard one of the dogs barking and went to investigate, otherwise she'd have been laying there for hours whilst I played Train Sim World on the PC, rather than the 15 minutes or so that she spent laying in a puddle on the slimy slabs. Result is a full break to the right Ulna. So, instead of a hotel stay and a few glasses of red wine, I am now stuck dressing a daft old woman, cooking, cleaning, looking after her horses and our 4 dogs, shopping etc etc etc... FML.

Only problem is @Sonic , now I will be the only person at JF with the magnificent Hangerworld "Suit Hanging Integrated Transport Solution (S.H.I.T.S) (£5.99) fitted to the car, so I'm expecting to be swamped by the curious and worshipping hoards and I had hoped we could share the load. Oh well.

You could muck the horses out and then take the dogs for a walk, but not in your suit. Then Sonic may be able to attend
