I've had the whiteline insert for over a year now and although it helped gearchanges initially, I think now is the time to change the engine- gearbox torque arm mount.

I've definitely slowed down my gear changes (and tried to make them more precise) since owning my GR. But having done 37000 miles it's the one thing that keeps bothering me and occasionally getting that horrible crunch when pushing on.

Recently had this issue when going from 3rd to 4th , which should be the easiest shift.

So can anyone relate to this and recommend a mount that's sorted their shifting?

Not bothered about additional vibrations. A good shift takes priority for me!

Four points:

1. For me the best torque mount is the one by DNA Racing. It uses Powerflex bushing and I prefer it in combination with the other two Powerflex bush inserts, so that you don't only stiffen up the one link making the situation worse in the other two. The road versions for all three won't give annoying levels of NVH even to people who do bother.

2. To stiffen up other related areas, creating additional precision, but more marginal this time, I would also consider replacing the shifter:
  • cable bushes
  • base bushes
I'd be reluctant to replace elastic parts with completely solid ones, so as to avoid unnecessary stress to related parts, therfore I would go for solutions like:
both not the easiest or cheapest to get in the UK.

3. https://www.gr-zoo.com/threads/how-to-adjust-reset-gear-linkage-fix-for-1st-2nd-gear-issues.37/ by @Onehp

4. All the above won't cure what may be an inherent issue of this car's transmission, evident when shifting while cornering hard, braking hard or when on uneven surfaces. Any improvement through the above three solutions might still be worth perusing, though.

Following...
My whiteline insert lasted about 500 miles and my gear change is no where near as nice as when the car was new. I need to look into all of this... (y)

I was in a very similar position, I’ve had the whiteline insert for over a year, it helped but the shift was still never perfect, mostly noticed on track under very heavy braking.
I just changed to verkline insert, there is much more vibration at low revs, but the shift feels noticeably better. I have some of the verkline suspension parts ready to fit so figured I might as well stick with them

Next track outing is at the start of April.

I improved the shift with a Coolwx shifter and replacing the split engine stabiliser with a Cusco

Cusco got bad reviews? How is NVH?

Bears repeating, don't think it is split, they all are, it's to my best knowledge a bumper just like the one to the left for fore/aft movement and in that sense it doesn't even make sense if it's attached and loaded in tension. Just it's molded in a way it appears split...

Yes agreed that split makes naff all difference to the prevention of fore- aft movement. It’s another internet myth I suggest. I did put inserts in my dog bone based on reviews but the biggest change was using millers oil. I can’t remember any aisin boxes that like to be rushed at high rpm and load though. My 2zz box is similar, it’s fine normally but you can’t rush it at 9000rpm or when cold.
