That silvery thing centre of the picture - I think it's the ECU or something, but I doubt it should be rusty like that . . . I cleaned it up and rubbed some grease the rusted bit.

(Yes the other bits of the under bonnet area, could do with a clean too, but ran out of time today)

The ECU is always in the interior in the passenger footwell.

Not sure what that is, something to do with AC?

Should I be concerned at the corrosion of the case ?

That’s normal. Looks like aluminium corrosion.
If you want to treat it then a company called Race Glaze do a deoxidising solution and jet laq to cover it afterwards to stop it coming back.

A bit of wire wool and some metal polish should be Ok

Dont use steel wool on aluminium, you will make it far worse. That will cause dissimilar metal corrosion.
Buy some scotchbrite pads to remove the corrosion and then apply a light oil on it.
Metal polish will just leave it exposed and the corrosion will come back.

Looks like gal steel not aluminium?
I agree, during the galvanising process perhaps the component was touching something else. Looks like surface rust and should just stay like that and will be fully protected by the rest of the galvanising. Just spray some WD40 or similar on it and it. Nothing to worry about. 👍

Could be just zinc plated steel and not galv. Will take a closer look.

Yes you are right. I did have an Elise and the ecu box was aluminium and had a similar affect.
I completely overlooked the rust patch. Think I need stronger glasses. [emoji23]
Gal/zn plate I was just making a generic comment. Rough it up with some sand paper and hit it with cold gal. Or dealer...
