Need to ask toyota rep what to do

These are going to rot badly. When we put the extended wheel studs on, the hubs had to come apart and the mechanic remarked that they looked like they came off a ten year old car, not one that's two years old - and mine hardly comes out at winter and is garaged.
 
That’s not right. Are you sure the panel hasn’t been repaired?
I find it really hard to believe that a new car like this would rust that fast.
The technology involved with corrosion protection now during the painting process is so advanced now normally the body can last longer than the engine.

Generic speaking yes, but I feel this model has quite crap rust protection from the factory. I have additional rust protection from 3rd party, need to discuss first with Toyota and then with those guys what do they recommend. Maybe it is just best to rip off fenders and put rally2 style bodykit in, and verkline subframes once the stock ones rot?

But agree, gravel rallying is not the best hobby if rust is a concern.
 
A friend of a friend who worked at TGR WRT recommended to me if I was driving in winter to have the car fully protected underside as they rust. So it is known.. With my car soon arriving I need to get it booked in somewhere as soon as I take delivery.
 
It is the elephant in the room in my view. I’ve spent more time protecting mine and avoiding driving on salty roads than I want to admit.

Toyota's warranty on rust consist of 3 parts. Comprehensive , Surface rust and corrosion perforation.

3 years or 60,000 miles for Comprehensive " under normal use "

3 Years unlimited mileage for surface rust

12 years for corrosion perforation

This information is in our Service & Warranty booklet

We all need to be mindful that these warranties come with many caveats (which you will only be aware of once you try to claim). If you notice any signs of rust you need to take your car for an inspection. That should be then logged by Toyota , you should then receive a comprehensive report regarding the issue.

In a previous post I was ridiculed for saying " if you change anything on your car, it may well invalidate your warranty".

It's very true IMO

Only invalidate the warranty if the part you fit causes something else to fail.

Just go out and drive the dame thing, it's there for you, not the other way around. @Michael Knight has definitely enjoyed his to get to this.

As we are both local we should meet up for a drive.
Regarding any warranty, if you fit wheel spacers, different wheels, mudflaps or any other parts around a wheel arch , you will be lucky with any claim regarding rust to that area of the car. This also applies to all areas of our cars

We all have our own thought's , we need to be driving these cars, that's what they were made for. Yes a low mileage example in 30 years time might be worth £70,000 or more. As I'm currently 57 the possibility of myself still driving it or enjoying the money is miniscule.

Please, just get out in these wonderful machines and enjoy them .

Are you going to the GR meet at C&M Ampthill on Saturday?
 
Already from the start I decided to not use my car during the winter, and that was even before I saw pictures taken on a car that was used also winter time. As someone said ...it looked like a ten year old one. I told myself that high springrate coilovers and brackets with uniballs lives a hard enough life without salt/winter, and also now the sports seats are with no heating.
And it's not like when people hardly don't put any km's on their old restored summer sports car, there I say drive it like a rental ...who save's his girl/mistress for the next guy 😵
 
Looks like warranty for paint corrosion is 3 years, debatable if that is caused from stone chips or not. Need to check the car more in detail before take it to dealer. hope it will be hassle free experience.

Well you have mudflaps and 3rd party protection, so you've definitely helped them already. If it is, it's not like gravel roads are private racetracks, they are public roads (at least in Finland...)

well, I'd like to hear them explaining how the car should be driven to avoid that. I even live in city, so not even drive on gravel.
