Whilst EV sales have taken a dip in November you cannot say they have failed to grab the attention of the public or try to blame anything on the government when 55.4% of this years car sales are hybrid or battery. then there’s your statement about not seeing 20year old EV’s on the road, sorry to tell you milk floats are likely older than 20 years old and Harrods occasionally use their 1939 delivery lorry’s (in service up to 1970 so over 30 years of daily use).

I’m not pro or against EV I feel they do have a place just like they did 100 years ago or the trusty milk float.

Milk floats use lead acid batteries, hence cheap and easy to swop, EVs use lithium iron cells and costs vary to replace them from a minimum of £7k for a cheap EV and £40k for a Porsche Taycan, if the car is 8 to 10 year old, then that’s never going to happen and the car is beyond economical repair, scrap.
The majority of EVs currently selling are to business where they have tax incentives, of which are disappearing slowly, the public, the man on the street is not buying them in any meaningful numbers, hybrid car sales are basically ICE car sales with a side of battery for ethical reasons, we know they don’t count as an EV.
The EV simply hasn’t taken off enough to survive the onslaught of bad press, poor charging network, expensive charging cost, expensive to buy the initial car, high depreciation, high cost insurance, difficult charging for anyone without a driveway, poor range etc etc, they cost currently around £2k to scrap due to the cost of getting rid of the batteries, they written off if any chassis damage occurs to the car, forget patching up at the body shop, the list is endless, I ask this, would you buy one with your own money?
 
BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) currently sell just 16.3% of all cars in 2023, rising from 15.1% in 2022, that’s 83.7% that use most of its propulsion from Diesel or Petrol, and a little token gesture from a battery motor on the side.
At the rate of increase of 1.2% in a year, the momentum has virtually stopped, and I’m confident it will never increase higher than 16%, the truth about EVs lack of green credentials is becoming common knowledge.

If you want to know how well these cars will last just look at GT86s, some of those are now 11 years old, they don't really rot out. I've seen a couple with scabby bits but those seemed to be oddballs and not the norm.
 
I've been using mine daily on all season tyres and Bilt Hamber Dynax UC treated since Nov. Happy to report back in April if I see any signs of corrosion when I swap back onto summer tyres. Only a hours work on a Sunday afternoon costs less than £40 for a couple of cans of the stuff. Means I can enjoy the car without not feeling guilty when I cant be bothered to wash the thing.

My other halfs son is working for Toyota on Hydrogen Fuel Cell technology. I agree with you and keep telling him to pull his finger out. ;) He brought back a Mirai when he last visited (James May, has or had one). All very nice but the nearest fuel station with Hydrogen is 40miles away.
 
Let’s get back to numbers….There are 40 for sale on Autotrader, 9 red, 8 black, 7 white etc etc but only 1 electric blue, I have watched the market for the last few months and they seem to sell quickly when they come for sale, and at a premium to other colours, what may have been a popular colour choice from the 1st batch, has ended up becoming quiet rare as Electric blue was not offered on the second offerings.
Thoughts anyone?

Considering it was reported (within these forum walls) to be the most widely bought colour, it's amazing that we don't see more Electric Blue cars up for sale. Perhaps current owners love it so much that they hang onto them!? That light blue car on Autotrader is nudging at the top end of asking prices IMO (mine was £29.9k with 37 miles on the clock), so it may be there for a while yet.

I've no idea, but guessing maybe that this colour was chosen less by people in the first batch who were just buying to sell on, more by people who planned on keeping the car longer term.

That'll be me then. I loved the colour on the GT86 Blue Edition.

There was no way I wasn't getting myself an electric by GR86.
 
Well I think it’s the best colour, I’m biased of course as I have it, but for me it stands out the most, I imagine possibly 100 exist from the 1st batch but no more came in the second, guessing that it may be 100 of 1200 cars and so 1 in 12 overall, but being the best colour (IMHO) it’s held onto a little stronger by happy owners, and sells a little quicker when it’s for sale.

I'd certainly have chosen it if it hadn't been discontinued... Though I do like the Ice Silver I have
