GR86 Exhausts

Pretty sure catbacks for the pervious generation would fit as well.

From the poking about I’ve done looking at various exhausts I’m pretty certain this is the case. Caveat that there is a slight difference in fitment and a GT exhaust on a GR (certainly for US cars that owners have fitted them to) aren’t quite as spot on. I think it’s that they sit a little more recessed in the bumper than the correct GR system would.

As Hachi-roku says, most will only ever replace the system after the front pipe. This is straightforward and doesn't affect cat, GPF and emissions from an MOT perspective.

See photo below of OEM front pipe

@ctecperformance looking forward to the non-resonated system comparison when it gets fitted. Do you have a Youtube channel for uploaded 'sound' videos and the like?

Just so it's easier to visualise. C-TEC front pipe back system starts here, bolts directly to the OEM front pipe. Utilises the OEM bolt spring arrangement on the factory 2 bolt flange. OEM hanger points and hangers are used, so the system is also 100% reversible

Hi, the owner was here this afternoon for the engine oil change and subsequent road test to assess exhaust note with full rpm range available. He is super impressed, and now very undecided whether to go non resonated. I've suggested he runs the car himself for another week or two, and then he can decide which way to go.

Unfortunately, it's an awful day here weather wise. So the videos etc have had to wait until next time.

Nice looking system that. Be great to have some videos of how it sounds. Still searching for the right exhaust for mine.

Seems there are some reasonable Black Friday Discounts at the moment if you look around (enough to save on delivery charges anyway).

I have a gt86 spec exhaust on mine, with the tip at full extension you can’t see the hks logo on the top of it, definitely sits further back

And the complete C-TEC system mated up to the OEM front pipe

@ctecperformance I’m dead keen on this design, this looks great, well thought out and well made, I like the fact you retain the ball joint style clamp and spring bolts. I got to admit I’m steering towards the home grown stuff, you get better value as its not being manufactured and shipped halfway across the world.

I have a few questions, I was going to PM you but I’m sure others wouldn’t mind knowing either.

Whats the diameter before it splits off to the back boxes?

What material do you use I take it its 304SS? Is the Vband clamp SS?

Do you have other tip designs?

Where are you based?

How much does that system cost?

Those rear silencers, given the shape, pipe entry and exit are they chambered and wool packed? Why do you use those in particular?

Any feedback or tweaks needed from that owner?

Hi all,

I had a really positive chat with Nigel from CTEC Performance yesterday, he is very passionate about what he does. He is working with a couple of fellow members on here who will have info and updates regarding exhausts soon. 👍

Just fitted the MBRP Axel back, more than happy it now sound like a proper sports car. Can even be fitted without jacking the car in the pouring rain. I was a bit too keen, no regrets. Plus the carbon tips look brilliant.

Just waiting on an idea of pricing from @ctecperformance on the two different systems (res/non-res). Hopefully before the end of the year, else I'll have spent all of my pocket money.
