GR86 GR86 Delivery Tracking and Collection thread

Oops was my typo - you are of course correct!

I had a 987 gen2 only the 2.9. Lovely car, but way too much grip, even on track, so no tail happyness like a GR86.

Do go in eyes open though, it's an old car and they need regular maintenance, Porsche tax on parts is annoying also.

They do have some inherent problems, like the coolant crossover pipes, and the gear linkage, so make sure they have been changed.

What I like about the GR86 is only scheduled servicing and a 10 year warranty, and fun to drive and lovely to look at.

Hey Ben,
It was lovely to meet you and it was an absolute pleasure doing business with you. I hope the 'handover' and the car lived up to expectations and you enjoyed the drive home.

It's always going to be a risk for both buyer and seller in a situation like this but other than buying new it's how I've bought all my cars. I'd rather deal directly with the seller to gauge how the car has been looked after during their ownership. I was listening to a podcast recently and they said that Quentin Wilson once advised them by saying...'buy the seller not the car'. That's pretty much my thinking and if I'm selling, then I know the effort I put in will attract and reassure the right kind of buyer which @callahan absolutely was.

A happy ending to a long drawn out saga (looking at you Toyota UK!) which took an unexpected twist with my wife's Rheumatoid Arthritis diagnosis. We gave it a go but it just wasn't to be and I'll miss the GR86 but am thankful that I at least had the chance to appreciate the sublime and engaging driving experience the GR86 delivers.

A big thanks to the Zoo which has been brilliant from start to finish and it was fitting that I ultimately sold the car on the forum marketplace to another member

The drive down was great and I even managed to avoid any rain! Now to find some roads near me that can compare to the Borders.....

Arrived at Dealer: August 25th
Picked up: September 2nd

Zero damage internal or external, the Buy Online team were mighty stressful to deal with towards the end, the person assigned wasn't very good at responding to my requests and had to keep calling the central team. Dealership were great to deal with on the day, and not heard from them since.

Thanks for sharing. Mine is now en route to Derby. I thought the turnaround would be quite quick to the dealer but looks like it will take a couple weeks looking at this. Out of interest, what dealer did you use? How was the handover experience? I ask as you look to be based in Sussex, i'm in West Sussex.

I used Steven Eagell Toyota in Horsham, although they were called Marshall when I placed the order I think?

The allure of a '73 plate won me over, according to the Buy Online team I could have picked it up a few days prior if I wanted to. Makes sense. I’m also going through Horsham too. Sounds like you’ve had a fine experience which is reassuring! They look after our RAV4 and have done a decent job to be fair.

I asked to speak to the body shop before they do the repair. At least I know where it is so I can inspect it properly.

I am waiting yep. I ordered the day they announced the 3rd wave of cars and mine was shipped in early October. Has just arrived at Bristol on the weekend as I was able to track the boat. I went with Silver but that blue does look great

I also ended up with silver, but half wanted the blue. It just wasn't available when I ordered, despite ordering months earlier than the latest lot. Silver is nice though.
