I had a 987 gen2 only the 2.9. Lovely car, but way too much grip, even on track, so no tail happyness like a GR86.Oops was my typo - you are of course correct!
Do go in eyes open though, it's an old car and they need regular maintenance, Porsche tax on parts is annoying also.
They do have some inherent problems, like the coolant crossover pipes, and the gear linkage, so make sure they have been changed.
What I like about the GR86 is only scheduled servicing and a 10 year warranty, and fun to drive and lovely to look at.
