I just got my notification to say that my car has arrived at the dealership, but I had a change of plan at the weekend and agreed to buy Sprotacus' car that he advertised on here, which I'm picking up at the weekend. It looks immaculate, is already run in (and serviced at 1000 miles) and I'll get to drive it across the Borders and through Kielder Forest on day 1, so I really can't wait.

As such, there will soon be a magnetite grey manual car available for another lucky customer.

Congratulations....but if you don't mind me asking, why take a second hand car when you were due a brand new one imminently? I thought most of the ones on the second hand market were still going for overs, or no cheaper than the RRP of a new car, at least.
("Mind your own business" is a perfectly valid response btw, I'm just curious :D)

Probably wants to avoid sagging rear seats, dents, curbed wheels, chips, scuffs, have I/haven't I got drive away insurance, delivery date vagueness, and interminable non-communication...

That's fair enough. At £31K is only a hair more than I paid for mine brand new, and with that including detailing, coating, etc, you're already better off. Enjoy the drive home. I'm often up and down the M11 on my way to my parents, I'll keep an eye out for a grey as I pass SW :)

Bear in mind the new cost of the car now too, but the biggest factor is how great the seller has been to deal with and how much he has obviously cared for the car - unlike Toyota!
 
Hopefully as we move forward in the months and years to come, genuine buyers can link up with genuine sellers (with excellent cared for cars) on this very forum to come to mutually satisfactory arrangements.

Manipulative, calculating, selfish flippers can, as always (and most of us agree), continue to f**k right off and when they get there keep f**king right off some more.

I'm now off to talk myself out of putting my very own well-cared-for example (with incredible fitted suit hanging solution!) up for sale due to the Porsche Cayman (987) R manual I can't stop thinking about

Mine will ultimately go to a caring new owner at some point in the next year or so... SWMBO is going into a stem cell transplant after a full (horrendous) year of treatment for her ongoing battle with that f*cking horrible disease but fair play... she knew I wanted one and said "you go for it... we'll keep it a year and then get a proper car". She knew that she'd be mostly laying low and recovering until mid 2024 possibly before we can consider travelling again so it was a good time to get a car that would normally be at the bottom of her list ;-)

I'm still hopeful that we can come to some sort of compromise where the GR stays or it might be the "normal" car she mentioned and possibly a good MR2 Mk3 for me to continue to indulge my youthful side

Obviously by far the most important thing - all the very best to your wife/partner and for the treatment.

If you do move the GR on, I'm sure you'll enjoy a good Mk3 MR2. Had one myself back in the day and loved it.

Wishing your partner all the very best when that times comes. Hopefully the car stays and you get many years of enjoyment from it.

As a south Lanarkshire resident, I'd recommend a detour onto the B743 muirkirk to strathaven road. A great twisty road and not far from East Kilbride.

Yup! One of my favourites. When I lived in Lanarkshire I’d often just take the car a run down that road, I felt like I’d keep up with, or beat, just about anything over there in my little Clio 200. You may recognise the car park ;)

It's certainly a road for handling over power.
 
I'll see if I can get over to the B743, but it might make it difficult to then go to Kielder. Depends on the weather tomorrow too, not sure if I fancy Kielder during a storm!
