A 225 PS4S is probably the most I'll go which is fine. If it was living on track I'd be baffling sump and doing additional cooling etc anyway.

I wonder if the oil starvation issues also stem from Toyota seemingly under quoting the sump capacity. The manual states 5 litres, yet this only took mine to just over the minimum mark. It needed 5.5 litres to hit the “Max” mark on the dipstick, which it has remained at with several subsequent checks.

When Toyota did my run in service they put in 5.5l which I supplied them
How about tracking one until it blows up then calling Toyota to ask for a replacement. Let me know how you get on.
I don't get the opinon that a sports car will only work properly when driven like a grandma. Any faster it's gonna blow up!

I am just gonna overfill it a bit and keep an eye on the oil temp while using quality 5W-30.
Driving on the race track on limit is harsher on the car, but it's not like driving on the road near the limits is impossible. The skinny road tyres really don't have much grip and have massive buffer to let you play on the limit safely. Not a 0 or 1 decision where it will NEVER affect on road performance.

I think I'd previously said that when I did my oil change post break-in, that I only put 5l in and it was fine. But I just decided to check and I think I fell victim to the crappy dipstick design - one side shows the oil level as being way overfilled, because I think it smears against the inside of the dipstick tube. The lower reading on the other side actually showed it not far above minimum. Luckily I have a spare litre of 0W-20, so I've just topped it up a bit more.

How I get on?? You must have me confused with someone else? if i'm going to a track day, I will use my "track car" and not my brand new road car
I always liked the idea of tracking a car, but in reality, I don’t think I ever would. Toyota have been a bit sneaky with their advertising as well I’d say in that they shown this car in a track. There is a suggestion it is “track ready” so can see both sides of the argument thinking on it more. But yeh, I’d be keeping the car on the road myself.
Or he could track one and probably have no issues at all. It's less inflammatory but much more fun.
I'll be using mine on track. Gone are the days where l keep possessions pristine for the next person to enjoy. I've bought it, I'm having the best out of it. Life's too short for polishing.
Can totally relate - my point was more around the headache involved if you had to claim on warranty. That stress would get to most people and would be difficult.

There are tracks in the Uk that a majority left handers as they are anti clockwise. You could also overfill the sump and it would be more than fine.
More importantly I would be flushing the brake fluid with RBF660 at least or if you are feeling rich Castrol SRF.
This accusump seems to fix the issue though. With taxes and delivery would be around £500 landed.

@AdamST205 you can buy the Accusump in the UK, no need to import one.

If Toyota continue to host GR track days and the timing + location aligns well enough to work for you then stick to those? I would imagine if it lets go at an event they’ve organised legally there’s no way out of honouring a claim for a motor to be replaced under warranty.
Caveat - this is the company that doesn’t know/doesn’t want to tell owners (delete as applicable) if their car has an alarm fitted several weeks after being asked to clarify.

I’d ask them whether they accept any liability when the event has been organised by themselves!
By organising an event it’s a poor showing (no shock given their form) that the tacit approval people would read from the act could then be met with a declined warranty claim should the worst happen.
I do think this whole “take a passenger road car and market it as a track car” has come back to bite Toyota. The GR86 is a passenger sports car designed for driving conditions on the road, not track. The GRY has been built and setup for the track.
To be fair, their T&C does clearly say their warranty will not cover track / racing so none of this is really that surprising. They should have never offered a track day or shown this car being driven around a track.

Unless you're dumb enough to have your car recovered to the dealership with a roll cage, tow points and event number sticker fitted I really don't see any cause for concern. I don't understand some people's obsession with finding ways to prove their warranty is void. Use it, enjoy it, if it breaks within warranty recover it to the dealership.
