GR86 GR86 Delivery Tracking and Collection thread

Utterly gutting, but it's worth waiting for. Just make sure you inspect the repair with a fine tooth comb.

If the bonnet is dented, then I would hope that they would just replace it rather than repair it. Similar happened to me recently, I went back to the dealer to have something done, and whilst parked in their car park (I wasn't there at the time), the wing was dented by a van making a delivery to the site. As the car was so new, the bodyshop manager said that the best course of action was a brand new wing. I would assume that in your case, as the car was damaged before even being handed over, that they'd have have no resistance to just replacing the bonnet entirely...then the only thing you have to worry about is checking the paintjob.

Annoying regards the wait, but means you won't be taking delivery of a brand new car with filler on it.
Assuming you can get a new bonnet.

I heard parts supply for our cars can be difficult.

True. I did end up having to wait an extra month for them to get a new wing.
Still, I think that's preferable to taking delivery of a car with repaired panels.

Anyone else feel their dealer is discriminating against them, as it's a direct sales with only £500 for them?
I've paid, was hoping to pick up on the 1st or 2nd, but being told other customers are booked in. No doubt the cars they have sold and are making several £k on.

Just frustrating, feels like we're stuck in the middle of an argument between the dealers and Toyota GB.

@AWB ; Was your car booked in at Dunfermline (Halbeath) for collection or was it over in Edinburgh? It seems the Halbeath branch have had several GR86 discovered with damage. If I was a conspiracy theorist I might start thinking that they were building up their own stock of rejected cars to repair and sell later... [Scans around their compound as the X-Files music plays in the background] ;)

Yes I the dealer has consistently made me feel like they are doing me a favour and put me to the back of the queue. Feels similar to buying a Porsche. I can understand the dealers don’t really want to be doing this. But that’s not our problem and not something we’ve decided. I’m sure many of us are considering other dealers for servicing so they are being short sighted. Which is the nature of a car salesman/handover agent…

Mine is now in Derby and getting g closer to the big day. As reported earlier - seems they have run out of mudflaps, but TOL are also out of cargo nets too - so that will save me a handful of £££s. And have been through the insurance quote process twice online and once on the phone and have now had it confirmed by human that they won’t offer me the drive away insurance. Wish I hadn’t bothered wasting my time!

However - here’s hoping it’s not damaged when it turns up at the dealership - it’s a nightmare for those that have endured that - feel for you!

I’ve been using Steven Eagell Oxford and whilst I haven’t collected the car yet (next Thursday), they seem pretty chill about it so far. I don’t think I’ve been overly difficult but they have answered queries promptly, and professionally. I could have collected the car over a week ago but they were happy to delay it all.

After much badgering they have relented and I can pick it up tomorrow!!

Hopefully it's not damaged 🤞

Its a bit like dealers attitude to warranty work on cars they didnt sell. Quite short sighted as they should work even harder to provide excellent service to encourage you to buy from next time.

Having spoken with fellow buyers and read comments here, it seems to be very much a case of mixed experiences.

Some dealerships (including mine) have been great; others definitely sub-par.

2021 BRIT award

Not sure if still going but Toyota had awards for Best Retailer In Town (BRIT) which Steven Eagell won in 2021

😂 no it was in Edinburgh at Newbridge. Third one that’s arrived to them with damage apparently. The salesman said they very occasionally have cars arrived damaged but proportionally it seems to be quite high with the GR86.
