Went to see my new car at the dealer today. They had three waiting for collection. Was great to see them together. I was really conflicted between the white and blue. I think the white is a little too creamy and the blue hides the nice black accents. The red looks amazing on a cloudy day but turns practically orange in the sun. Not so keen on that shade of orange. It was overcast when I took these so looks red.

Thought people who are still on the fence may finds these helpful - I think I would have. The colour accurately represents how they looked IRL to me. Can clearly see the cream of the bodywork against the outer white of the protective wrapping on the white.

Please elaborate , how can you tell from looking at few pictures of unprepared cars with transport wrapping on?

Wow that white is terrible. How does that even pass Toyota QC. I couldn’t live with that.
Is there a chance you've quickly glanced at the white picture (with the protective wrapping) and assumed bad colour mismatch between bonnet and front bumper?

(I don't mean to patronise/insult you - I thought the same thing at first - it is early on a Sunday after all! :) )

Agreed, I think the white really suits the car. Seems like a pretty complex colour
(Out of curiosity would be interesting to see it next to Honda Championship White 🤔)
I think it's best to look at it on its own. Next to another white car is will look cream. Unless it's in the sun, and then it will look more interesting.

It sounds like you don't particularly love any of them?

For what it's worth, (not much now not many colours are still available 😊), this is my preference, reasoning behind my colour choice.

  1. Ice silver. Really suited the contrast between the black wheels and trim. Also really showed the lines and curves of the car really well. Plus, I just really like silver cars.
  2. Sapphire blue. I really like this colour, especially when just cleaned and the sun is shining.
  3. Pearl white. I do like pearl white cars. Again good contrast with the black bits. Looks better on some cars, than others. Strangely though, I think that I like the look of it more on early gt86's, especially the TRD model.
  4. Magnetite grey. Always liked grey cars, if a little bit boring / safe in some people's eyes. I'd say they can be under the radar, or sinister depending on the car, which I like in equal amounts 😁. I'd be repainting the wheels silver for the GR86 though.
  5. Crystal black. Free colour and looks good on the GR86. I'd 100% of used the money saved on the colour getting the wheels repainted in silver though. That would finish it off perfectly.
  6. Ignition red. I've had a bit of a love / hate experience with red cars ☹️. I really like this colour in some lights, but the orangey tint in other lights puts me off. I do like the contrast between the black bits though.
  7. Electric blue. Just a colour that I've never really liked. I know it's the most popular colour on the GR86, but for me, I wouldn't be bothered that it's no longer available and would happily have any of the other colour before it.

Indeed, I’m not completely sold on the available colours, sadly. I like them, but don’t love them, which is a bit of a shame. I think once I have the right black accents on my white one I will be happy; and nothing takes away from the shape, performance and fun of the cars 😁

The white one needs the EXTERIOR STICKER DECORATION - SIDE

I’m planning on getting some of the little black decals for posts next to the boot like the limited edition orange one in the US. Someone on here has bought them (3rd party, Toyota don’t sell them) and look good. Hope the quality is good enough to ensure British weather 😣
