GR86 Extending the waiting list?

As an FYI @CTG 300 attempted to swap allocations with me but Toyota UK were not able to assist. We both had silver on order but wanted to change our position on the list. Albeit at different dealers.

Well @sweenbox wants white, but he's ordered blue. So I've ordered white and maybe we can swap. We're using the same dealer.
Have you seen white in person? They look really great - it’s quite an unusual & subtle shade (and I tend not to be a fan of white cars)

I was still holding out hope for a cancelled blue one but after a lot of pondering I'm happy with the red. Though I don't have my confirmation email yet.

Pearlescent white always looks stunning in the sun. That's my next choice if red disappears.

Remember you're buying direct from Toyota online, and paying them, so get it agreed with them.

The dealer just hands it over, that's it.

It's this new agency model of car sales.

Ordered last night. Black one . I ordered an EB last year but silly me cancelled (now a few k more) so earlier this year I got a lovely Fiesta ST (last of the MK8.5’s) which I love, plan is to keep them both for a year and decide which one is my keeper.
It’s classic FOMO and whilst I love the ST I think running a GR86 also for 6-12 months will convince me the best for my lifestyle.

Whilst the ST a hoot to drive it’s not a looker imo and after seeing a GR86 last week at Goodwood that was enough to reach out to Toyota.

Interestingly I emailed 3pm yesterday to re-register my interest this time with a different email and 2 hours later I got the email inviting me to order one. Guess the folks who were looking for “overs” will be disappointed but great for genuine fans of the GR.
What’s an eb out of interest, only thing that came up when I googled was the Bugatti, lucky devil!

If its as Yeomans I may see you there, I have booked another drive, mainly to convince my other half
I might book a second test drive… I was far too sensible on the first.. they can only say no can’t they 😋

I was exactly the same, probably need to give it the beans if I can get out away from traffic.

Having read this forum, one thing I've been trying to prepare myself for, was an expensive insurance quote, due to the ridiculous category the GR86 has been put in. I've just popped the details in, and the quotes are really quite reasonable.

Maybe things have changed since the first owners got quotes last year, or maybe you're all just really young.

Define "young" - it's all relative I suppose!

When the first cars started getting delivered, some insurance companies didn't have the GR86 on their system. I had to change companies when I collected in December but switched back a short while later once my company recognised my car (summary here).

My own insurance is very reasonable now.
