My order's been in for almost a week and the app still says "order processing" but I know from reading the forum that I need to speak with Toyota for more detailed status. I'm happy however with the initial estimate from them of October.. I certainly don't want the car before September 1st ...

I called them 3 times, tweeted them about 5, and emailed them a similar amount 😁

In my defence, they did mess up.

Anyway, phew - got the invite. Deposit paid.

My first choice would have been Electric Blue, but for some weird reason they removed the forum's favourite (judging by the colours ordered thread) colour from 2023 options. 2nd choice was Sapphire Blue, but they're out.

So I've ordered silver :)

Thanks. There are quite a few pictures of silver ones, so I need to park on top of a mountain or something to add a bit of interest (no photoshop I promise).

Now then, what did I do with my life when I wasn't staring at my inbox?

Ok, so you registered a fair while back, and some who registered a lot later than you got an invite a couple of weeks ago. At least they didn't lose your name altogether.

So did you order the red?
 
I've done it this morning but I'm really unsure of colour. I wanted the electric blue but that obviously wasn't going to happen, sapphire blue was my second choice and I really liked that. If I'd got organised yesterday I probably would of picked silver but I dithered when blue was gone. I'll see what's available when I speak to Toyota, in the meantime going to ponder it.

Exactly the same as me then.

I wonder how they're going to deal with canceled orders? Maybe just to whoever is next on the list, but it's got too be worth trying to get a canceled colour.

Speak to Toyota as I was always taught that "if you don't ask you don't get".... Tell them you want a blue car if they have any that become available

What's the worst that can happen... I actually like the blue now i've seen a few (online, not in the flesh) but I'm happy with the silver I ordered
 
Ordered last night. Black one . I ordered an EB last year but silly me cancelled (now a few k more) so earlier this year I got a lovely Fiesta ST (last of the MK8.5’s) which I love, plan is to keep them both for a year and decide which one is my keeper.
It’s classic FOMO and whilst I love the ST I think running a GR86 also for 6-12 months will convince me the best for my lifestyle.

Whilst the ST a hoot to drive it’s not a looker imo and after seeing a GR86 last week at Goodwood that was enough to reach out to Toyota.

Interestingly I emailed 3pm yesterday to re-register my interest this time with a different email and 2 hours later I got the email inviting me to order one. Guess the folks who were looking for “overs” will be disappointed but great for genuine fans of the GR.
