GR86 GR86- Cars for sale - General Discussion

Today I took the difficult decision to part-ex my electric blue GR86. After 6months and 1600miles I felt I'd given it time enough, and although I wanted desperately to love it, I just don't think it suited my driving style... or probably more accurately my lack of it!

Therefore I traded it into a dealership today for something far less unusual and special, but that hopefully suits where and how I drive. We'll see...

... I'll still hang about here as this has been a great, friendly, and funny, community - plus I can self-flagulate when I am overcome with remorse and guilt as I follow all of your adventures with this great car 🥰

You gotta do what's right for you. What did you get?

I'm in a relationship that includes 2x bonus kids, so a 68 plate Ford Fiesta ST-3 (Mk8) fit the bill for me ... same 0-60, fun and good handling, space for the grotters in the back, and the monthly repayments halved, making it more manageable for me 🙂

I am going to miss the Smurfette badly though 😪

Sounds like a great choice - be good to see a picture or two of the ST when you get it

In case it's useful: I received ~£31.5k for it as part exchange.

I'm aware that I could have achieved more, but I wanted a simple transaction, and this meant that I sold it for pretty much what it cost me (including the private plate.)

Looking at the 19/20 on Autotrader now there is a glut of delivery mileage examples advertised at £35k, and I get the impression that the prices are softening - great news for those who are still on the lookout!

I think that’s reasonable in the current market and means you didn’t really lose any money.

Always going to get a bit less when part exchanging but it’s a lot less hassle!

Part exchange?! Blimey, how much was the Fiesta?

You had a great sports car for 6 months, for free - pretty good going.

Halving monthly payments was mentioned, so assume a cheaper car/financial "downgrade" (not a very pleasant term and no reflection on the ST of course).

About £15k all-in for the Fiesta ST-3... 5yrs old and reasonably high mileage but I figure I barely do 4k a year so it should supply good smiles per mile.

I'll try and post up my non-scientific, gut feel comparison once I'm settled in with it 😌

I think the prices will firm up again once the current batch is gone..

Just did a scan of Autotrader and Pistonheads and looks like some people are happy to take around list for their cars now.

Cheapest on Autotrader and only registered this month

Cheapest on Pistonheads, albeit a Japanese import RC model

It's not just GR86 specific though, it's happening across most makes and models.

Odd - I see 66 HXE as £33,500 on Autotrader. And the cheapest as V4 NCE at £32,000 (sold by the 14th or it stays!)
