Just received this in email :cautious: I'd say it's a bit premature since my collection was just before New Year.
I'm not sure yet how I'll sort this out.

I got one the other week, obviously choose to ignore it as I got the car in December I'm guessing it's because the car was sat in Derby since June, I think I will do an oil change though.

I had the same from my dealer; when I phoned to query I was told it was for a 6 month health check.

This hadn’t been mentioned when I booked my service plan, but despite expressing surprise I booked it in for June. Today I’ve checked it out, and this only applies to the GR Yaris (see screenshot attached); I’ll be phoning tomorrow to cancel…

That 6 month health check better not be compulsory. They're taking the piss with service pricing as it is.

EDIT: Ignore, Yaris only.

Not had any email reminders about the service, but it certainly states that this is applicable to GR Yaris only on Toyota's website:

The official fixed service plan schedule didn't include any 6-month healthchecks either.

I managed to take a picture of service costs at Steven Eagell's service department at the end of January as well, for those that are curious about servicing costs:

I rang to cancel earlier and was told that as I had a service plan, I could have a free ‘summer health check’ instead free of charge instead at the time I’d booked. Apparently this is a standard feature of service plans (see attachment), though I’m not completely sure whether this is a Burrows thing or something that’s more widely available..

Steven Eagell got it wrong. At first they told me it was a "mandatory 6 month health check that *might* void warranty if not taken", but when I called up Toyota UK they said that the health check only applies to the GR Yaris and Steven Eagell was wrong. In my case it turned out the reminder was for the yearly servicing, but they had the wrong date in their system.

So did either Steven Eagell or Toyota UK correct it on their systems for you?
I’d hate to see wrong reminders for 10 years or a warranty claim being refused at 9yrs and ~6 months 🤣

Come on guys, you should all know now that Toyota has absolutely no idea what they are doing around this car. 😄

1. Inadvertently take orders 2 weeks before the official release date
2. Entirely balls up getting cars to customers, taking at least 9 months
3. Issue a recall on something that was already sorted before delivery.
4. Fail to inform customers the recall was nonsense and let them find it out for themselves.
5. Send service reminders for the wrong car

Just had a voicemail from Bracknell saying my car is due for a service if I have done 10,000 miles or more :ROFLMAO:

I also have a voicemail from my dealer saying my GT86 has its 6 month safety inspection.

They really are the gift that keeps on giving.

I had a phone call from Bracknell as well stating that my annual service was due in June.
I explained that I collected my car in December 22 and will be servicing in December 23.
They updated their records :)

Hello this is Jemca Bracknell calling to book your GR86 in for a service? You've had it for a year.

Well I got it at Christmas soooooo.......

You may find your first service in December is recorded as 6 months late on the Toyota online records for servicing.

Similar thing happened to me when I purchased my F Type. The car was purchased new by Jaguar UK and it spent 6 months roped off on a stage in the atrium of a Jaguar convention centre. The car had zero mileage when it left the stage.

I purchased the car two weeks after it left the stage with 250 miles on the odometer and I had a call 6 months later to inform me the car was due it's first service and even though the car had only covered 1,200 miles at that time I was told the service was required for maintenance of the 3 year guarantee and if I delayed the service it would be recorded as late on the system.

I had the service undertaken anyway as the car came with a 3 year service plan!
