GR Yaris What did you do to your GR Yaris today?

Took it for a drive after almost month and half.
Redeemed myself by blasting through two longest stages of this year's WRC Croatia (SS2/6 and SS9/13).
Roads are already polluted by recce cars. There won't be any more rainfall, but in forests and shaded areas it will be like Wales Rally GB. Mud and gravel thrown out everywhere.
Got a call from my local dealer, seems I get to spend the WRC Saturday with Toyota at service and SS10/14 vip area.
Took DTUK box out and really feel the lack of power and response, time to pop the hood and plug it back in!

as its summer removed the rubbery thingys in engine compartment corners near hood hinges + strut top hat plastics. No clue if that improves radiator air flow but at least I've tried.
Still driving around with Nankangs as like the grip, Michelins have stayed in garage..

Some the flow should go over the turbo instead.
Others say they won't work because aero pressure is too high there.
So then it works, because when stationary/slow driving it certainly helps removing hot air from engine bay and reducing heat soak. Every C gained is a win.... Free in this case...

I believe turbo is oil not air cooled.
Turbo is packed quite in the back behind engine, would imagine the flow there is quite low. but everything is possible.

On stock car, the transmission tunnel is basically where all (cooler) air is ejected from the engine bay, passing the turbo. Being ball bearing, oil cooling is minimal, water cooling is present though (but without circulation after shutoff, so need to cool off turbo after a hot run!). And the GRMN has a vented bonnet, so...

I did some measurements and even though the air is trying to escape at the scuttle panel and the pressure there is high, the pressure behind the cooling pack was lower with fillets removed. I used a digital magnehelic and some tubing at various speeds.
The car really needs vents, I don’t know but suspect, that air flow does nothing at all for turbo cooling. Either way more air will flow through the bay with those bits removed. I don’t track so have no issue, I just had the equipment handy.

If you wish to go a step further, remove the rubber that runs along the plastic bonnet scuttle.
Also on a hot/dry day you can quickly remove the brake fluid filler access panel to give loads of room for hot air to escape. Good for track days!

Middle one was visiting his friend 1.5km from us so picked him up with 1hr detour. Just fun to ride around. Got thumbs up from fellow ST165 driver.

Stuck the metal plate for my new Dragy behind the main display.

Played around with it a bit and found how it worked. Impressive bit of kit!

Wow - did not know that - thank you - I note the flag - I wonder where all the road salt goes then .... Acid obessed
Wow I didn't know that me having an opinion (which we are all entitled to) was going to cause so much butt hurt with all you eco warriors... :cautious:
I will go back to not commenting and lurking... kai-thanks-byeee! :p (y)

My Yashio Factory Super Silent Titanium Muffler & Titanium OPF Delete pipe turned up today, express delivery from Japan. Took 4 days to arrive via DHL between paying the invoice on Monday morning via Paypal & it turning up mid day today, Thursday, which is pretty amazing if you ask me. I was lucky as they had one in stock.

Not cheap but the lightness and quality are very apparant from just peering inside the box. Can't wait to get this fitted on Saturday at Abbey Motorsport, Oxted (thank you so much Scott), just in time too for JapFest as well as my birthday which is lucky and should hopefully mitigate any awkaward questions surrounding its cost, well for at least 1 day 🤣

Hopefully this will be my third & final exhaust
