GR86 Exhausts

Does anyone knows any exhaust being sold here in the UK with a Valve?
I don't want an exhaust that will wake up the whole neighbours but I also don't want a quiet exhaust.
So far the HKS is in the middle, but a valved exhaust might be the way to go 🤷‍♂️

I wish the HKS didn't have the step down in diameter for the tips...
Does that make a difference?
Genuine question....I'm not an engineer, and I'm not looking for performance. I only want an exhaust so I can stop making vroom vroom noises with my mouth when driving.
how high did you need to get the car to reach the post cat bolts? I'm planning to go low rise trolley jack straight to the diff casing and axle stands as high as they'll go, will this be high enough?
Don't know who is this aimed at, but that's how I managed to change a catback on my GT86. Supported with 4 axle stands, it's still a bit tight, but you should be able to reach the spring bolts attaching the catback to the front pipe easily enough. The only complication is if the bolts holding the midpipe to the backbox have rusted - this happened to my on the GT86, and I had to take the entire stock catback off in one piece. Hopefully with the cars being pretty new, those bolts won't have crumbled into nodules of rust just yet.

Only in terms of aesthetics, completely down to preference!

Yeah should be fine I have normal stands and didn't need to max them out to get access.

Although my jack has a good high lift on it to get it up there.

Its on 😁

Nice! How's it sound? I've decided I might take a punt on the Spec L 2. Just waiting for Fensport to respond to me query about lead times.

Nice deep burble to about 5k then quietens down a bit at the top end, its not offensive in any way, would say it could probably afford to be louder at the top end

Same

Spec L tips on the Spec L II exhaust would be the one for me

Can't decide on an exhaust system if in honest. Looking like the Milltek non res at the moment will be the winner.

The Milltek is perfect when warm.
But if you like your neighbors, really think twice. I notice taking my wife's car out of shame lately. I had to move my car yesterday at noon and saw the neighbor's curtains open briefly. Maybe they don't mind and just wanted to peek, or they simply hate me. I might install the resonated midpipe just for the cold start..

I wonder how much cold starts do for the environment vs the annoyance they cause. I wish it could be programmed out without losing warranty...

We have an Abarth 500 here, that is very loud.
I hate that guy and always open my curtains, when he wakes me up ;)

So I'm pretty sure, you are right ;) They may hate you.

Sorry if this has already been asked but this thread has turned in to a bit of a beast now! With non Res milltek how is the motorway drone and do you think it might be a bit lairy for track day limits?

Hard to judge for me sorry, but I never felt it was droney. I don't think I've even done 1 mile of motorway though...
Track day would depend on the rules. Some tracks don't even allow aftermarket exhausts or have db limits, Nurburgring for example I bet it's okay.

@WWGR86 - have you fitted your HKS L-Spec II yet? If so, what are your thoughts on it? Any drone? It's still my favourite so far.

I'm about ready to take the plunge and order it from Fensport. They haven't got back to me on my query about lead times (says "shipping in 3-7 days" but also "Available approx. September" in the description - not sure if that's referring to last year or this year and hasn't been updated).

apparently the "quiet" HKS was so loud it woke the kids up this morning 🤦‍♂️

I wonder if it's louder as it's a single exit.
Looking like a good possibility, I didn’t check the specs on any twin systems as i didn't want one, looking now some are 5db quieter,
I’ve tried parking front in tonight to see if that helps, probably rip the bumper off tomorrow 😬
