GR Yaris ðŸ‘Ž Negatives - what annoys, disappoints, puzzles and generally irks you about the GR Yaris?

Was on the motorway yesterday, and the popular thing seemed to be signal, mirror (oops there's someone there), bugger it I'm going to pull in front of them anyway as I've got my indicators on!
This is what I was meaning as well.

Indicator and right hand down instigated simultaneously in one fluid motion. I don’t need an orange flashing light to see that you’re in the process of squeezing in to the braking zone space I’d left between me and the car in front FFS!

AFAIK,

BMW, indicating randomly.
Audi, does not indicate at all.
Porsche, doesn't have to because it's a porsche.
Mercedes, doesn't know if it's a BMW or a Audi.
Subaru, indicating at night even when there is no other car in 200 km.

All other, indicating when necessary. (Change of direction or lane).

Picked the car up 2 weeks ago now. Main qualms:
- having to run it in is so frustrating…
- that rear view mirror is not ideal
- passenger seat on stilts
- the seat not going back to its original position is annoying
- the gear change is a bit notchy, with sometimes first gear needing a couple of tries to engage - probably still bedding in (only 200 mi)
- why does every A200d and Golf IV driver want to race?
That said though, I’m keeping it!

Maybe take it to the dealer to have it looked at regarding the gear change.

That's not the case with all the cars, and so isn't a feature of them. I've read people have had problems with 2nd being a problem, but not necessarily 1st. There are plenty without any issues, and I know the gear change on mine is excellent - and has been since I first drove it.

From a systemic point of view, an important reason to keep your distance is to facilitate lane changes which in turn helps traffic flow.

Not saying you, but if *someone reading this* almost always finds that cars are squeezing in front of you, it *might* be that:

A: you have an ego problem ("everybody is in my way, and how dare anyone to actively choose to place themselves in front of me"). It's very refreshing to let any such feelings go btw...

OR

B: you're systematically driving too close to the car in front, so you always feel squeezed if someone is trying to lane change in front of you

Might also be a combination of both obviously.

That is not to say that there aren't too many people that don't have any manners in lane changing, just to to pinpoint that one cannot change others but one can change oneself as a driver - a very sensitive subject sometimes... I've learned myself and never feel squeezed nowadays, which is not the same as someone timing their lanechange so you have to brake quite some or almost sideswiping you, those drivers receive coordinated audio and visual aids generated by my vehicle to remind them that wasn't a good move, but that doesn't happen very often...

Edit: spelling

This was the way I always drove in the UK, but driving on the continent (where rules vary) plus the advent of lane-keeping systems as being discussed here, mean I always indicate both ways nowadays.
Always indicate both ways for two simple reasons:
- creates a good habit
- the reasoning 'I don't need to indicate because nobody is there' misses the possibility that you've actually missed another traffic user (that perhaps shouldn't be there at all, e.g. overtaking on the inside), at which point it is extra important you have shown your intentions!

Thanks (and @Michael Knight), I will see how it goes with the gear change and flag it at the 6-month check if it persists

Yep I indicate everywhere, even in car parks. Nobody can convince me otherwise. My other half only indicates when she thinks she needs to and it just seems dangerous to me but then again she is the type that walks over a zebra crossing before giving cars time to stop because it's her right of way.

Yes, bit annoying with all the road grime. You get a nice smear afterwards

Exactly. Pristine clean car except for the dirty smears on the driver's window because you wanted a bit of fresh air

Seriously, I think it's probably because you wash the car often, don't recognise this....

We are definitely in the 'Mucky GRs' club, Onehp.

Trigger warning for the detailing crew 😂

True. I'm not exactly detail crew but having only had it 10 days or so I'm definitely finding I'm washing it a lot more than a normal person :)
