🤬 Roll on Spring...

*insert spaceman meme*

You want to see how a 1984 Cavalier rusted…

Meanwhile, I genuinely don’t think I’ve ever seen so much salt on the roads here, or anywhere else. It’ll be a miracle if I have any car left by April 😩

Wash tomorrow I think!

New motors nowadays are just not painted/protected properly
It’s been a little while coming but it appears that cars have come full circle. I hope I’m wrong but I’ve seen a few that don’t look great. I have a photo of me welding my mums fiesta that she bought new and was about 5yrs old. Would have been early eighties but by mid 90s manufactures got their act together.

My parents bought a nearly new Alfa Romeo GTV in the eighties, it failed its first MOT from rust, they sold it for nearly nothing 5 years from new with severe rust around the doors and sills. It was kept in a car port overnight.

We don't do winter here so the whole ice, snow and salt is an unknown. I follow a couple of guys in North America who do rebuilds/repairs of old farm and earthmoving gear. They are both near the Canadian border (either side) and get serious winters. One did an episode just on his 'beater truck', F250 class thing. Three years before it was his new truck. Only driven when there was no snow. Then when the then beater gets to 5 or 6 it is gutted for parts and the rest scrapped. He showed chassis pics and the damage is horrendous. Full ladders down to nothing in places etc. So the cycle is new truck every 3 years that becomes the beater after 3 years and scrapped at 6. Glad we don't have the same issues. We get sea salt around and on the beaches but a wash is only minutes away most times.

Whole back and wheels where grey from dirt/salt, gave it a wash yesterday and not a washing person...

My car got a full chassi dinitrol rust protection from when it was new, will be renewed this summer/fall for its third winter. Usually I don't bother but on this car it's a no brainer (garaging it for winter would miss the whole point of the car)....

I’m going to fabricobble me an under-chassis cleaner like someone on here did, get rid of the clingy shit underneath.

Just washed the car - was really really dirty. Hope the roads stay drier so there would not be that much salt on the roads

It’s a bit ghetto, but it works.

I was going to do the pipe fittings type, but but the time I priced up all the bits this was cheaper!

Will get a broom handle and cable tie it to a dedicated length of hose to have a bit more control. Job done!
