Hmmmm but the metal/cheese bit underneath is not black , more a silver/Wendsleydale colour, even with my eyes I can notice 🥸

BTW oversized tyres / Flange Protectors (😂😂😂) still won’t stop you kerbing an alloy if you something hit hard enough (I have a badge for that ☹️) they can give a false sense of security 🤔
 
So would you guys describe the wheels as satin or matt black?

You can always go down the ChrisFix's option of fixing up your alloys if a touch up won't do and you don't want to pay to get them refurbished.



I would at least sand them down a bit to smoothen the surface and paint to match.
 
I've bought a tube of e-tech motorsport black paint, just need to find some time to try it out

Let us know how you get on. Just been out and dabbed mine with a sharpie and to be honest it’s not really that noticeable, worked better than I expected. Also did a snow foam and jet wash and it didn’t come off👍
 
For info, I had previously asked for the price of a full set of wheels (stock alloys and standard tyres) because I assumed they'd be pretty cheap. Nope.

"1 set of 4 factory fit alloys, 4 tpms valves, 4 tyres 215/40/18 michelin £3046.96 plus vat"
 
That's nothing, Yaris GRMN wheels are almost £2k for one 😭

They are forged, though. I'm guessing the 86 18s aren't forged, but are still light-ish as some people say they weigh less than the 17s?

£2k for ONE? That's insane. I guessed this already based on the powertrain alone, but there's no way Toyota made any money on the GR Yaris.
 
Doesn't take much to write a car off nowadays when everything is stupidly priced.
 
It's GR limited run stuff. There were only 90 or so GRMNs in the UK and what I think Toyota might have done is made all the spares needed at the same time as the cars, then warehoused them.

Some people said the prices were to deter people ordering the wheels for their hybrid Yarises :)

Front discs and pads were £2100+ and my supercharger was replaced twice at £14400 for the part alone :(

I believe on the GR86, the consumables like brakes are very similar to the ones on the GT, so there are plenty of aftermarket parts if Toyota GR becomes very expensive.

Just managed to kerb a wheel 🤬. Was considering using a scratch repair pen. Has anyone worked out if the stock wheels are satin or matte black?

This is the way.

The factory finish just isn't very appealing, no matter what colour wheels you actually prefer.
