GR86 Civic Type R pricing.

There's a convo going on on another thread about this and that seems to be the consensus. The GR86 is in real terms a lot cheaper than its predecessor which is really bucking the trend of above-inflation price hikes in recent times. Most stuff is ~15-20% more expensive and the CTR something like 30% more than 3 or 4 years ago.
Maybe Toyota can afford it because their fleet average CO2 is a better story than Honda's.

The one positive about massive delivery times is that GR buyers are effectively getting a 2022/23/24 car at 2021 prices, even 2020 in the case of the Yaris.
I always thought the Yaris and GR86 were actually pretty cheap for what they are, and the recent hike in general market prices only makes them look certifiable bargains.
A boggo Golf is now £25k. I think people have to recalibrate.

Yep, a basic Honda Jazz is £20k these days.

My dad takes delivery of his Yaris Cross GR Sport soon - that's a £29k car! The Corolla starts at about that price too.

Well, after crawling into bed at 4am wondering how best to hollow myself out like a canoe and pawn my internal organs on the dark web to pay for a second Japanese sports car in as many months...
My wonderful "dealer" (such an appropriate title) called first thing this morning. We've submitted my two favourite colour options to Honda. Championship White and then Sonic Grey, since you ask. And no - I don't know which of the two will arrive for collection! Perhaps the zebra above? Such japes.
Delivery in January* - so I will have the pleasure of getting a 2023 car at 2028 prices!
Your scorn and ridicule are invited, entirely justified and will be warmly received! I will be in a quiet corner of the "Spotted - Was It You?" forum, having a little cry and reflecting on what I have done.
(* So says the system which promised orders opening in September.)

I checked my emails before looking up the the civic type r price yesterday and I had an email from the lottery saying I had won a prize. I thought I won’t need to worry about the price.

60 grand for a type R with no audio, air con and forged wheels seems a lot. It only saved 47KG.

My priority was to sell our FK8 & upgrade to the FL5. I have just asked for my pre-deposit back. I am sure the FL5 is a wonderfull car but 16K more than I paid for my new 2019 FK8 is just silly.
So were keeping the FK8 & look forward to the GR86 replacing our MX5 next year.

Just read your post @drz252.
Have always liked the Type R's just couldn't come to terms with the styling of the last release (FK8).
Much prefer the styling cues of the FL5.
In my view, white and grey are the best colours for the car.
