My understanding is that recuperation batteries were for the use where car collects power from braking etc. As in GRY it is used 'normally'. CS Batteries recommended the basic one for GR so that was the thinking..
I think the difference is not just the recup, its the intelligent charging. Yaris does not have recup, but maybe intelligent charging?

I know nothing about batteries hense this question. I leave the GRY for a couple of weeks between use over winter and have remembered that I have a CTEK MXS 5.0 charger I bought about 6 years ago for Celica and will use it every now and again to keep the GRY topped up. It is the older version with the snow flake next to the car picture. The handbook says it will charge most AGM batteries.
What sort of battery is in my car as I can't see it saying AGM anywhere on it. It does say stop start.
The new CTEK charger says AGM as a mode rather than the snow flake for cold charging.
What does the AGM mode do that the normal car mode won't do on mine?
I am hoping that my older charger will still be OK for my battery as they are about £70 just to have that AGM mode on it.
Just bought and installed the comfort connector in the engine bay with the three LEDs and fuse and will charge it once every couple of months.

Have had car parked for a week now couple of times and so far zero issues in cranking so initial worries of having the sufficient charge after longer parking seems not to be a real issue.

Maybe if car was parked in cold weather (below -20’C) for weeks but that is not a propable use case.

I leave my car for 3 weeks quite often. Only had it go flat once when I left it 6 weeks.

My 2p on light batteries is that the rear left is the last place you want to remove weight from in a RHD car. When I cornerweighted mine it was really low. I actually keep a load of tools and spare fluids around the battery to make it heavier.

Do you also use some lightweight battery? Thx.

The GR Four is Euro 6 compliant, it almost certainly uses Intelligent Charging.

The standard GR Four battery is a wet battery, ie, not AGM, your existing charger should be fine.

Interestingly, I stick the Optimate that I use on my bike and my Escort on the GR every now and again to prevent it going flat, as I don't use it over Winter. The Optimate lights its orange light first, (charging) then when fully charged, its green light. Now and again it drops into test and maintain mode, so orange on again, then green, and so on. However, on the GR (I connect directly to the battery terminals) it never goes green, always stays on orange, so there's definitely something unusual there.

... And parked outside, which winter time is a much tougher use case in at least the Nordic countries...
yes, especially as LiFePo does not charge under 0'C temperatures. Would not maybe use in nordics if car is always below zero temps. Especially as battery is not next to engine.

topped the LiFePo with charger - have been driving lots of short trips during this winter.
Charger showed 50% of charge for the battery.

Cold start -6. Maybe need to swap stock battery for winter use not to get into trouble.
