GR86 GR86 Delivery Tracking and Collection thread

Had a call yesterday to say 2 weeks from now are test drives and then 2 weeks after that it's the delivery (roughly). Matches with other comments here I guess.
He did say that the duck bill had to be fitted after registration, as it affects the WLTP apparently. Haven't had a quote in for that yet from the dealer.
That also said they are encouraging those who haven't had the GT86/ rwd sports car to test drive them as they want to avoid having them registered for the owner to then refuse it, which adds a previous owner to the v5. They also don't hold up the customer deliveries.

Going to go searching for the latest evo mag to build my excitement back up!

So what all 450 of us are going to join a queue to test drive them or are they prioritising those with cars already in the UK?

Laugh if toyota wait till everyone's test driven one before releasing the cars to customers.

Buy Online just advised, no further updates, we are still hoping for some positive news for buyers 'within the next few weeks and we are hoping to start shipping cars to dealers in December'.

Getting tiresome now. Still waiting on them to back to me on what accessories will be available. Since there's still no set date I had to invest in new motorbike gear to get through winter too. Something I really didn't want to be doing.

Just to back up the other posts, "I unfortunately cannot provide an expected arrival date of your vehicle as it is information we simply do not have. We have been advised that customer vehicles will start to arrive from early December onwards."

I did get another "thank you for your continual patience though."

It's going to be 2023 isn't it :(

I don't think anyone actually knows anything. It's all still "aiming for" and "hoping to". If they actually had a clue, they'd be able to give a schedule.
100% agreed, was told some months back that transport from Derby is booked at least 3 weeks in advance - so its already not the start of December and if it was you'd have thought they'd be able to say your car is booked in for software updates and prep next week or week after prior to transport etc.

Got to the point now that I will definitely be having a test drive and if there's any doubt in my mind I'll be off to test something with an M and an N badge before any more money changes hands

on another note lotus have opened an online booking portal for emira test drives, first come first served you choose an available dealer and a 90 minute slot, wonder if toyota will do the same

Had a call just now. Still no fixed date but expecting it in December now. Same mention of test drives in 2 weeks time, still no confirmed list of accessories.
With valuation they are thinking of trying to get us to take the pics to value it like Motorway and others do.

Cars have been available in Sweden for test drives now for a couple of weeks. It’s a nice car for being stock (except ugly exhaust tips), easy to live with and immediately feels fun in the first 100 meters. I might buy one!

Also tested a GR Yaris and it’s a bit faster and more efficient but not as fun unless you drive it on snow or gravel.

I’m coming from a 718 Spyder and MX-5 ND.

Just had a chat with them, mine is now sometime next year..i asked about deliveries of the ones in Derby which the chap quickly avoided but said the good news (I nearly laughed) he was 'hoping' that test drives 'might' be available from early December.
I probably came across mildly disinterested as i'm 2000 miles into our new GR Yaris and can't really see a reason to change ?

I think the online people deliberately tell people different things so they can come on here and laugh at the chaos they cause. Thank you for your continual incompetence.
I think they just always say delivery will be n+1 (where n=current month) to get you off the phone. Got a feeling that trend will continue until they actually know when deliveries will be. I cannot fathom why they think this is the correct approach. All it's doing is antagonising everyone.

To be fair they did ring me yesterday and the call went on for almost 20mins talking about various things like confirming no dealer stickers, I wanted wraps off but don't wash it, plates stuck on and not drilled, mudflaps and other accessories when they became available, etc. The only frustration is no confirmed date still.

Just picked up a voicemail from local GR centre, the message asked whether I knew any more on demo's/demo cars from TUK as they hadnt heard themselves, gives the impression they're expecting to see some movement on demo cars but havent info themselves...

Yeah, I've got no problems with the interactions I've had with the Toyota Online team; aside from the fact that I've had so few interactions with them which I haven't initiated.

I get that they probably don't know any more themselves, but that in itself is appalling. They are the representatives of Toyota UK; how on Earth is it acceptable that they don't know anything about the UK orders they are supposed to be dealing with? And how on Earth has it not been noticed/acted upon by their seniors?

Totally agree. Unfortunately some companies have a silo mentality, only giving the info out on a need to know, even if we all need to know. Or it's a fear thing of giving out wrong info then having to backtrack. Like the spec being different in different places

This might have been mentioned somewhere already, but can't find the topic, sorry. How many Demo cars, and what will happen to those? Weren't those suppose to be allocated to customers instead?

Hang on - this is a UK registered GR86, out in the wild?? Is it a press car? Is it a demo? What is it? and it's SAPPHIRE BLUE!! THATS MY COLOUR!!!

Edit - should've clicked on the poster's profile first - obvs a Toyota press car. We MUST be getting them soon, right?

Don't get excited, press cars have been here since the end of May. We've to wait for the dealer track day jolly next week and then for the demo car process later in November/aiming for December/who knows. Customer deliveries are allegedly from early December onwards. They didn't say which December though.
