GR86 GR86 Delivery Tracking and Collection thread

Noticed all the press cars are 22 reg, so they were registered by Toyota before Sept and now only appearing in press reviews. Makes me wonder if the press cars were registered in readiness for summer reviews to be pushed back/waited around for software/TUK?

They were registered in May as "grayboth" needed a car to go and get his lunch.

Don't get excited, press cars have been here since the end of May. We've to wait for the dealer track day jolly next week and then for the demo car process later in November/aiming for December/who knows. Customer deliveries are allegedly from early December onwards. They didn't say which December though.
My cars been here since the end of May also.....

I had a dream last night. A classic car hunter in 2095 had just opened a door on a workshop in Derby that was once used by a company called Toyota. Apparently they made a car called a GR86. Whilst about 200 out of 400 cars were built for the U.K. market they never got released to customers. The information on the reason why they didn’t get released is all a mystery. At one stage they thought about converting them to electric! Apparently a few right hand drive press cars did appear but Toyota never sold them to the public and they got crushed. Anyway these barn find GR86’s whilst covered in an inch of dust and pigeon poo look in reasonable condition. Many have nests of mice inside so some of the upholstery is damaged. They have about 6 miles on the clock. Engines might now be seized but they are going to auction in 4 weeks. What an amazing story !

The auctioneer says buyers can register for the online sale and it will be first come first served as long as the reserve price is met. The internet chatbox says a loophole in the auctioneers website has already seen some buyers get a car before the auction has even opened !

Well I finally had an update today which gives me some hope. Dealer called to say that test drives will be available sometime the week after next.
He then proceeded to say that he's been advised by head office that my car is due for delivery to them at the end of this month, so should be with them by first week of December, and ready for collection either first or second week of December.
My car arrived in the UK on November 1st, so unlike many of you, my timeline doesn't seem like it's due to be too atypical, but I guess we'll wait and see!

What will be interesting to see is whether the cars which arrived later into the UK e.g Oct/Nov which I presume would have the right software from factory will be delivered before the early cars sat in the field that need the manual software update. I'd not be surprised if those early buyers now wait longer to get their cars than those whose landed in the UK more recently...

Called my dealer and booked in for the 21st if the demo arrives on the 18th. They are not convinced it will though with all the delays!

No email for me yet 😔

On the line about “if you wish to finalise your order without a test drive, please email back to confirm”, I wonder if that makes any discernible difference to speed of delivery?

Got the same email. Bracknell said they haven't been given a firm delivery date for their demo car yet but will call me back to arrange a test drive once they do......

The email also has a PDF attachment on the steps if you do / do not want to proceed with your purchase.

Mine arrived late October and guy from Toyota UK told me mine would need the brake ECU update done.

Email received this morning as well! Exciting!

Have declined a test drive - want my first drive to be in my car - all the more special.
