GR Yaris What did you do to your GR Yaris today?

My car is off to the body shop at long last for a new bumper. Really didn’t like watching somebody else driving it away, like dropping your child off for school for the first time (I imagine). Anyway, according to MyT it got there safely. No idea how long it will take as inevitably the parts won’t be in stock or something.

I hit a damn pigeon! Blimming rats with wings!! So it's my turn to share a picture of grill damage! 😅
...well I probably could have slowed down but oh well it had plenty of time to move lol! :cautious:
The grill is sooo weak and cheap this is going to be a common problem I think. From holding it in my hand I was shocked to feel how delicate it is!
Watch out for pheasants/birds or any road debris if you want your grill 100% intact! 👀
Maybe it's time to look into Zunsport ones... o_O

Got it serviced. Very reasonable at €152.

Went with the Continentals for winters in the end, but they didn’t arrive in time 🙄 so it’ll be another trip in to get them fitted.

Good job it’s been about 20°C here recently 😁

Soo flimsy... :(
Ah broken grill pals! 😅
Hooked out a load of feathers and found the broken piece laying next to the intercooler...
We should start a broken grill club :ROFLMAO:

I couldnt find my broken bit otherwise would have attempted a repair. Need to find someone who has replaced one to chop me a bit out of their broken one.

You'll appreciate non metal bumpers if you ever get hit by one.

What's the legal requirements for bumpers these days, can they contain no metal at all?
guess its more of a reaction on driver demands. the car was designed to be as light as possible. so yeah, things break. my experience from driving Volvo is: you are hitting a stone? poor stone that has been. But that's why these are quite heavy und sluggish.

In germany it's called, "Einen Tod muss man sterben." (one death you have to die.)

If I am able to get mine back from the body shop then I’m happy to post you a bit of mine 😂. When I originally asked them about keeping broken bits they said I had to get written confirmation from the insurers that I could do so which hasn’t been forthcoming. No idea why they need the confirmation.

Oh for sure but I guess my point was if a mesh piece could be fabricated as a total replacement to the plastic part which breaks, Or possibly something laser cut.

It's not going to be big and heavy, it's going to give the second the plastic parts would have, at the joins between the plastic and metal. More trying to work out of it's totally illegal to have metal components.

I know there's that Zunsport thing but tbh that thing is uglier than sin. And if metal in the bumper is illegal, doesn't that make the Zunsport thing too.

Just trying to work out what the facts are. And whether if you found yourself in possession of a lunched grill, if a modification to something less shitty was possible

Plus like who barring wildlife is getting into the GR Yaris intercooler intake, my missus is tiny and even she'd reach the bonnet I reckon 😜
