GR86 GR86 - The “I’m thinking of cancelling / did cancel my order” thread

Wow, someone has managed to buy a Toyota, congratulations! I didn't really like the Supra shape in pictures but then I saw one in the showroom when I went to "order" a GR86, it looks much better than the pictures.

I wonder if they'll do a roof rack with a bike for the GR86 for when the engine blows up/wheels fall off?

I bought Seasuckers for my boat in the hope that they will go on the 86 when it arrives. The folds on the roof are going to be ok, I think.

Damn looks like you forgot to get that pint of milk (vegan alternatives are available). Better pop out and grab some, see you in four hours!
I told the Mrs I was going to take my dad out for a quick drive. Should be an hour and a half. 3 hours later she wants to know where we are 😂

I guess you mean a mk3 Focus. We bought one new in 2016 without a test drive. Sold it for our current FK8.
Initially loved the car but eventually couldn't live with the suspension.
You may not approve of the Honda the way it looks but in my opinion its the better car.
Interestingly enough, my dad's been in the Honda circle for years (him and my brother particularly love the EP3 Type Rs). I really do like the FK8s and have a lot of respect for them, but I've dreamt of having the FRS MK3 since they first came out (before my mind briefly changed to the 86), my friend had one and since then I've been obsessed, and personally that's my one bucket list car to one before everything goes EV. Maybe a TR might come in the future, but considering how much I've dreamt of owning a FRS, I feel like it's my one to have. Far from writing off the Type R cause they are awesome cars, but I just love the RS too much 🤣😛

Fair enough, if an itch you have to scratch then go for it!

I'm currently 90/10 in favour of just waiting for the 86 no matter how long it takes, but the lack of communication and transparency may shift this ratio over time!

The longer we have to wait the more of I'm likely to impulse buy something else and cancel. I know this isn't sensible but I'm not always sensible.

I'm currently drawn to Supras. If say in 12 months I spot a manual one in the right colour and spec I could well dive in.

Spent the morning at Mercedes-Benz World with Collecting Cars and got to do lots of window shopping!

My takeaway... I REALLY want the GR86 and I just need to not let Toyota ruin it for me. If it gets delayed, the kids don't fit, or the engine blows up then I'll deal with that when we get there.

Only things that appealled were a Supra (but that means running 2 cars still) or a 911... (and maybe an M2 comp in 3rd place). All a good chunk more money so for now, especially with the world going to shit around us I'm definitely happy to sit and hold out a bit longer (y)

Not to tempt you to the Supra side BUT from the official manual…

… it doubles as somewhere to nap…

Must say nothing there really took my fancy apart from completely useless cars, typically my car was brilliant on the way there and back, seeing the back seats of 2 gt86s got me a bit worried again though!

:ROFLMAO:

So much to unpack here.

Firstly this is real right?

So if one was to 'take a nap' (!) in a Toyota Supra (because it's the obvious place to do so, as opposed to say oh I don't know call me controversial a bed or something), it's advisable to turn the engine off to avoid unintentional hypnic jerk induced race starts?

Or - even better - why not luxuriate in the additional comfort and safety of the passenger seat?

This is even better than that "wheel falling off 'might' cause a lack of control" statement for the bZ4x or whatever it's called.

I'm still not convinced it's not an impressively executed wind up.

Finally, looking closely at the picture, the figure looks way more comfortable - even smugly so - than someone crammed in to a snug sports coupe has any right to.

I'd even be as bold as to suggest the posture and contentment suggest a recent bout of self-pleasure.

Yup, there is one in my office car park that I try not to peer in to as the back seats seem to get smaller every time I do! :ROFLMAO: 🤫

This is 100% real! 😂

Haha! I reckon the ‘dummy’ may have original fine info for a nap, woken up in excitement and knocked himself out trying to get out the damn thing.

I’m still trying to find a graceful way to get in and out carrying my spare tyre on my person at all times.

I’ve hit my head a repeater amount of times. Maybe it’s more an illustration of someone that’s for concussion 😂
