GR86 The GR86 “The Orders / Owners List / GR86 Register”

Hi all,

Joining in on the conversation.

Ordered my car on the day, through online while in the dealership.

Was promised July as my current 2017 GT86 has a service and MOT in august which I was told wouldn't need to be done by me and is going to be around £400 I wasn't expecting. Been over a month and haven't had a single communication from the dealership or Toyota themselves.

If I hadn't gone looking on the forums I'd have still been expecting July haha. How niave.

I ordered a Manual - Ignition Red in the North East - Durham.

Welcome to the forum and sorry about your experience with the dealers, although many are in the same boat here.

Could you confirm the time of your order confirmation email and if you had any updates on MyT app or Toyota Portal?

Welcome , you’re #184 on the list in post #1. ✅👍😎 I think we have quite a few owners in the North East. I feel a Meetup at the Lion Inn on the North Yorkshire Moors May be called for 🤔😎

My order confirmation seems like one of the later ones compared to everyone else. Had to redo the order 10+ times in the dealership because it kept crashing.

My time was 12:09pm for the confirmation email. And I've had 0 updates on the app and the Portal.

Still sitting with the message: "The Toyota team will contact you soon via email to advise the next steps."

I’ve heard of similar stories of people ordering at the dealership, apparently the system didn’t like the browser they were using. 🤷‍♂️ Did you get an ORCA number, if so you should hopefully be ok 👍

I have got one luckily so I felt slightly reassured.

Just less happy about the whole service I was told not to worry about doing on my trade in :censored:.
Do we know if the trade in values are guaranteed for the extended time of delivery? As I will easily be putting a few thousand miles on if we are talking 2023

Unfortunately the dealers appear to have been completely blindsided by the last minute “online only” ordering, it’s annoying if you had factored in a swap but at Least you have the GT86 to keep you going in the meantime 👍

I'm in the same boat re: the valuation. Hopefully vehicle prices haven't tanked by the time of part-exing, but I don't believe the value now will be guaranteed 🙃

Yeah it's unfortunate to see, the dealers seemed to have no clue themselves.
It's a shame I sold my 91' MR2 Turbo in anticipation.

That's very unfortunate to hear, I was told by the dealer that the valuation was guaranteed from the time of ordering till July. I believe he phoned someone to confirm this for me as I was curious on trading it in at the time and buying a cheap run about but was told not to worry.

Pretty unlikely they would guarantee the trade in value for that length of time.
But, with the used car market the way it is, and the very low availability of the GR, values might actually go up...

Wondering any 1037ish buddies get their order added to MyT yet? Any updates with regards to the MyT?

Unlikely but very annoying for me as I was prepared to trade the car in and buy a run about in the meantime but was told not to worry and the value was guaranteed until July when they were expecting my GR86. So I was talked out of doing that.

Great to hear of another future owner in the Wirral 👍

I went to see them the week before and they suggested it but I had to be at work. Gutted I didn't take them up on the offer as being in the dealer and listening to others might have helped - rather than going for finance I’d have probably chosen cash purchase and got my email much earlier than I did (11:22 😳). Ah well.

I chose RRG Macc for my pick-up, I get my GT86 serviced there and Richard has always looked after it well.
@Greg_gt86,

Well, ironically, I am a cash buyer and the email confirming my order arrived at 11:22 - in the event, then, had you been at Johnsons Toyota Wirral (JTW), that might not have made any difference.

That said, as a retired Solicitor, I did take a few minutes to speed-read the relevant Terms and Conditions - interestingly, the only Clause which refers to the amount of the deposit and the model being ordered (Clause 7.1.1) makes no specific mention of the required deposit being £1,000.00 or, indeed, of the GR86... I have subsequently advised the Toyota Buy Online Team of the error in an email and been informed that the appropriate amendment will be made to the relevant Vehicle Purchase Contracts before they are sent to each customer for signature.

Finally, a hat tip to the Sales Team at JTW - without their support on the day, my attempts to order the GR86 might, quite possibly, have ended in failure.

So I sent a complaint last night with some of the questions we all have. Had an email response this morning. Some interesting points raised.

Looks like I’m definitely getting a car, as are we all, but with a 2023 delivery date with an email confirmation of 10:38. Interesting finance deal may change if GFV is amended!

Full email:
I notice you have sent multiple emails which have not been responded to, so can I firstly apologise that these have been overlooked. I will try my best to address all of your questions in your emails below:

Firstly, I can confirm we have one vehicle ordered for you, not two, and any finance application which has been done at a Toyota Centre can be transferred over to ourselves. The advertised finance rate will be honoured for any vehicles which are taken delivery in 2023 - however the Guaranteed Future Values are subject to change, which may have an impact on the monthly payments.

I can confirm we have received your order and this is currently waiting to be processed into our system. Whilst I am not currently able to provide you with any accurate ETA, I would be confident looking at the time your order came in to suggest that your vehicle will not be arriving until 2023. We are aware of online speculation suggesting that some customer's who placed an order will not be getting a vehicle - I would like to confirm that this information is incorrect.

Finally, I would like to reassure you that regardless of when we process your order, or make an outbound welcome call to you, this will not impact the ETA of your order in any way.

I hope this email helps to answer your questions, and we will be in touch with you again as soon as we can.

I would imagine there are enough of us on here to try and get in touch with Toyota and voice our concerns.
I think the challenge is other manufacturers suffer from the same supply and demand issues affecting deliveries of new cars and often won't provide EDDs for that reason. I personally don't think the time of calls or emails sent out will in any way affect the delivery dates as it appears there is already a limited allocation of cars per month/quarter that will be delivered to the UK and even if they take weeks to contact all customers, chances are delivery dates will be months away.

With that said, some form of FAQs on the website or an email clearing up the above and stopping the confusion would be nice from Toyota, as a lot of people who have placed an order for the car are now stuck not knowing what decisions to make regarding financing or selling their exiting vehicle.

Maybe talk to the dealership again. My current 86 is due MOT in September and I was told that along with the service I have just had will be free if the car is not with me by then.
I had the sales guy email me that wording so I have it in writing.

I am still financing the car though.
